In this case, these rumors would relate to the big mystery of our attack on Iraq:
WHERE are the WMDs? Bush said they were there, and even said he knew where to find them - but of course none have been found.

The other big mystery is whether the White House team had any plan to avoid our new Vietnam from destroying the Republican party.

The possibility that clandestine operations are underway to plant WMDs would provide answers to both mysteries. If the occupation government suddenly discovers WMDs after these rumors, then these rumors would be very important in hindsight. If no such discovery is offered, then of course these rumors can just fade away into limbo.

If I had a dollar for every one of these "smoking gun" phoney stories I have read in the last year that magically disappered (never to be heard from again), I would buy Donald Trump and make him wash my car. I only wish I had kept a file of all of them, especially the two completely false stories printed by FOX news. One was about a massive underground nuclear facility that had been found.... completely fake. talk about egg on their face.
