They advertised (on the package) that you could shoot BP without swabbing in between shots. I had been having trouble with my Thompson Center patches. I couldn't shoot more than three and still get the ball down the barrel. I tried the Wonder Patch yesterday and shot eight times with a little strain, but not a whole lot either. Pretty neat. Anyone else have this experience or do you make your own lubed patches to do the same thing? I don't sell them, by the way, but want an easier way to go.

Dave ;)

Go ahead and swab between shots anyway. The common practice is one wet (saliva, etc.) and one dry. When you do not swab, fancy patches or no fancy patches, it affects your velocities and your points of impact for the balls.

One wet and one dry patch between each shot stabilizes the amount of fouling and, hence, the velocities. Also improves loading.

Thanks, Bad. That's what I've been doing since my too wet of a patch, but then I had to try the wonder patch and see. I've also been experamenting using some FFFg powder in the rifle. I dropped the load by 10 gr from 90 to 80 and it worked fine, though I thought the barrel got dirtier.

Yes.

Hey There:
He said it right , clean between shoots and the accuracy will stay and it will be easier to load. I have use the lube 1000 only for many years now and never had any problems. I also use pre-lubed patches in the woods. Cost is not an issue with me. But you can pre-lube your own.

I put extra lube on my patches, and most of the excess gets squeezed out at the muzzle when it's started.
Most pre-lubed patches could use some extra lube, especially if the barrel is longer, if it has deep grooves, or if shooting heavier powder charges.
I can usually shoot for hours without swabbing if shooting with only moderate powder charges, say 50 grains in a .50 @ 50 yards.
The fouling stays softer and gets pushed back down into the breech during loading, then it gets partially expelled when the next shot is fired.
Shooting with heavier powder charges produces more fouling which can make it tougher to re-load.
