wonedr why i feel ashamed

found this link while routinely checking refering links to my website.

Yes, they quoted my website. Am i proud? no. Am i ashamed? err... a little. As it turns out, any tool (either gun or website) can be used for good or for bad. This time they definitely used it for bad
:cuss: :banghead:

Wow! I'm impressed with their list of 6 whole bad things that have happened. And one of them was an accident.

We don't even know if those people were carrying their concealed handgun "legally" or not.

How many millions of people in this country legally carry concealed and the best they can come up with is 6 really weak incidents?

Not only that, but 3 of the 6 weren't even directly related to the weapon being concealed. There is nothing in them that is specific to the concealment but rather they used a weapon.

Idiots.

Taipei Personality,

they both quoted and linked my site... and, honestly, i do not like to change anything in THIS particular article (many artuicles on my site need serious rework).. i just feel uncomfortable.

Hmm . . . you could also change the address for that page, update your the links on the rest of your site, and either give them different content on that page or simply give them a 404. The stuff they quoted may have less of an impact if it's not directly accessible on your site.

Max, there is a way to prevent any Unauthorized Linking to your site by adding some code into the .htaccess file on your server. ;)

You can restrict it to a specific list of websites. :)

I Design, Build & Maintain Websites for a Living, so I know of all sorts of sneaky tricks to prevent this kind of stuff;)

Here's a Little Guide on how to do this (If you have no .httaccess file, just make a text file & rename the extension to .httaccess) http://help.powweb.com/tutorials/htaccess/block.php

Just an Idea. Change the content of that particular page.
Like maybe put a photo on that page of something thats
very offensive to anti-gunners. If you need an anti-gun
offensive photo let me know. I may have one.

You never hear the positive stories. "School shooting stopped by armed principle." "Young boy with home-defense shotgun the father kept loaded and hidden stops deranged teen with nunchuku from beating him and a friend to death." The first one is a fact convieniently left out of most papers from a widely publicised event and the 2nd is my personal experiance from when I was 11.

How about having the link redirect here :D http://www.wagc.com/GunsSaveLives.html

I noticed that they quoted the part of your page about the TEC being ugly and popular with less-than-reputable folks, but neglected to include the next couple sentences, which describe how the thing is really a piece of junk.

Thanks to their web site I will now have to go out and buy some concealable mayhem. Before I read that page I did not think that mayhem could be concealed. No I know better.

"Concealed Mayhem" is something I expect to see on a label on a shelf in Dr. Devious' lab in a pretty, glowing, glass bottle.

Now send them afollow up article

list all of the Police "Glock leg" incidents. And say we are "forced to let Police carry" even though these things happen, due to "lax requirements". (no offense to LEO's here) There seemed to be an elitist air to this article. I just wanted to dispel that first. also send the link to the Denver police's recent shootings. Then follow up with successful use of CCW self defense cases. also Crime statistics falling.... Shall I go on?

Let me tell you this as an aside... The Columbia PD officer that instucted my "lax CCW class" was quite an advocate for armed citizens. His keister was saved one night by a "civilian" who was packing and covered his six, in his breaking up a bar dispute, gone terribly awry. He said hearing that action cycle was music to his ears (as he was surrounded by quite a few angry bar patrons). The whole story was too long to post here.

I have to say I'm actually heartened by that site. For all of the millions of new CCW issue-ies in the past 10+ years, they find 6 incidents where no one was hurt, and the handguns probably staved off further harm from fists, contact weapons etc....

Who would have guessed that our Oleg

was into counter-revolutionary sabotage? :D

Redirecting the link is the best idea, but it can be a major PITA if you have several seperate html files with links you have to change. I would personally alter the content myself. Hopefully nothing on my site could be used in such a matter, but who knows.

Thanks to the Diggler, this particular article now spawns pop-up window with Oleg's site, if the visitor came from USNewsWire link.

NO, it doesn't. I just checked and it still goes to your site alone.

"In many states, the permit requirements are so minimal that some people get permits to carry concealed weapons despite criminal convictions for violent or drug-related misdemeanors or domestic violence restraining orders. The applicant does not have to show any need for carrying a hidden handgun and law enforcement has no discretion to deny permits even if they think public safety may be endangered, absent a prohibiting offense. Some of these states do not even require safety training and force police to issue permits to people as young as 18. The 35 states are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming."

I love how they mish-mash points together to expand the scope of the states they accuse of "irresponsibel"permitting. Here in Tennessee the only "criminal conviction" that won't block you getting a permit is a misdemeanor violence charge. Gotta be 21 for handgun and permit, safety training required, no spousal violence, no restraining orders, no drugs. How many of the states on the list are just like TN?

It seems that they took every restriction that any state (or group of states) has for issuing a permit and essentially said, "If they don't have all these restrictions then we can lump them all together."
