+1 on Hoffy's comment. My only complaint is the bluing, which is pretty sad.
I bought one for $425 that had exactly 50 rounds down the pipe.
My buddy and I went to the store together (just after bonuses were paid at work) to pick out 1911's. There were a couple of dozen to choose from, but we narrowed it down to a Colt series 70 for $650, a Kimber Carry II for $599, the PT1911 for $425, or one of several new Springfield GIs for just over $500.
My buddy got the Colt, 'cause he insisted on a horsie.
The Kimber was eliminated because it looked a little ragged-out. I got the Taurus because of them all, it had the best slide-to-frame fit and best trigger. It then proceded to shoot groups half the size of the Colt. OK, the sample size isn't big enough to conclude anything meaningful, and I know it... but neither is anybody else's anecdote.
Now, I probably would not have bought one sight unseen, as I concede that there is probably some truth to Taurus' QA and TS being hit-and-miss. I also would be wary of Taurus designed pistols based on my experience with an early 24x7 .45.
...but this is a 1911, and closer to mil-spec (as far as parts interchangability goes) than most on the market.
No regrets on the purchase.
