If you spotted someone's CCW printing in a no-issue state, what would you do? Would you assume they're carrying legally (LEO or such), or that they're up to no good? Mind your own business?

mind my own business. If they're an LEO, I just exposed them in public. If not, I would worry about calling out a criminal on carrying. Since its a non-issue state, that means I'm not armed (or likely in that state, period) I'm not giving him a reason to target me.

If he's not brandishing the firearm or otherwise acting aggressively, I say leave him alone. However, if his behaviour is suspect, I'd call 911 and hang around until they came.

i dont think id spend tiem in a no issue state. even MA has a CCW.

else wise id probibly just leave it be. the cops arnt there to catch everylitte BS thing. im not gunna help them.

Why? I'm sure the police have been sent on so many "man with a gun" wild goose chases that they wouldn't appreciate another one.

Not only would I then be a rat, I'd be a hypocritical rat.

Just like the reason not to get involved with a shooting even though you are armed.

If you don't know the situation, don't assume anything. If you were to walk into a store and see a man pointing a gun, would you shoot him?

How do you know he isn't an undercover cop?

If I see a person DEFINATELY breaking the law, I will call the police. Until I definately know, I refuse to ASSUME because.......

Well, I'm sure someone knows the saying about what happens when you assume.

Depends on where it was and what they looked like. Just an average person on the street, no. A flaky looking kid going into a school, probably would. But like someone mentioned above, I don't go where I can't carry so I wouldn't be there in the first place.

Depends on how they look/act I suppose. You stated IL, no-issue state. If he had it tucked 'mexican' carry or some non-holster position, I'd raise an eyebrow.

That's a tough call. Could be an average citizen wanting to protect himself and carrying 'illegally' or a thug looking to pop a cap.

If it was most other states I'd probably go shake his hand.

Of course not. Why would I report someone wanting to protect themselves to the police? So they can have their life ruined for excercising a right? I would hope that you guys wouldn't call me in for printing in one of those states, because I have no qualms about carrying there. Stupid laws have to be broken.

Wouldn't even think about it. It's none of my business and I wouldn't want to get someone in trouble for exercising their rights. If the person is allowed to be let out in public and associate with everyday people that person should be allowed the right to bear arms no matter what his past is. I know nothing about this person and as Superlite27 said, when you assume....

No.

If you report an otherwise law abiding citizen, you'd ruin his life. You've stripped him of his chances to carry legally in the future and have given him a criminal record. He may have had no choice but to carry illegally in order to protect his life.

If you report a criminal, you're probably thinking you're really cool. You're not. You've only temporarily addressed a problem. Once the criminal gets out of jail shortly, the criminal will be carrying illegally once again, will be pissed and may know you as the informant. Be prepared for possibly having to deal with street justice, looking over your shoulder, paranoid for awhile.

they would have to do something really stupid for me to do that.

now, if it was to be some place a gun was not suppose to be(court house, airport, some where they had to get thru security to get to.)Then yes I would report it.

Since I truly believe anyone should be able to carry a firearm with their permit being a copy of the 2nd amendment.....

I would go about MY business and leave them to theirs.

If in Illinois, call one in every day until the LEO get tired of chasing the man-with-a-gun calls, and push to change the law! Idiot flatlanders. (oh, and cheeseheads too!)

Wow. [SARCASM] This comment really defines "High Road". [/SARCASM] Not only is this advocating the filing of a false police report (illegal), it is also done amidst a plethora of insults.

Although I think the idea is pretty slick, (it WOULD shake things up wouldn't it!) As a former "idiot flatlander" I would have thought this a wonderful idea in the past.

After a little thought, however, I realized that cops in Illinois LIVE for "man with a gun" calls. In all other states, cops are forced to use their noggins when they get one of these. They have to ask themselves, "Is this a criminal, or just another kook call about a law abiding citizen?"

In Illinois, all the guesswork is gone. It's a brainless dronelike reaction. The decision is already made. Gun?..........Criminal.

NOMB, here in Colorado.

And,

If he had it tucked 'mexican' carry or some non-holster position, I'd raise an eyebrow.

Eyebrows up! I Mexican Carry crossdraw all the time.

(Plugs ears for the ensuing emotonal protests.)

Mexican Carry = Criminal, right?

Just seeing a gun print is little cause for alarm. There are other indicators. I say a "thug" looking guy in the mall with a shoulder rig and a gun. But he looked like he was shoping for a card not robbing a place so I let it go. Now had he been looking suspicious then thats a diffrent story.
