Class Action

I'd try to help organize a class action lawsuit on behalf of those who have had their safety and property put at risk because of irresponsible journalistic methods.

Yes and no. I would not want it arbitraily published without my consent. If approached for consent, I would not care if it was published as I'm unlisted and essentially a 'ghost' in most public databases. Working for a telco does have its advantages.

Is giving negative feedback to the papers that publish these lists, calling for the firing of those respobsible for putting many people in danger, and hoping that those who published the lists get their pants sued off when a criminal uses it as a "shopping list..."

"Attacking the FIRST Amendment????"

Only to the kind of moron who says something like "I don't think you should disagree with X, everyone has a right to their opinion." :scrutiny:

The First Amendment is a restriction on the government. It doesn't mean you can say what you want without consequences. They have a right to publish a newspaper. We have a right to complain about it. A lot. Loudly.

"The best solution is to change the laws and seal the records, but in the MEANTIME...convincing the papers of the HARM they are doing and holding them ACCOUNTABLE for any harm that does occur...seems like the way to go!
Am I missing something here???"

I agree and that's why I wrote the paper and expressed my anger and outrage. I think those that implied threats - and there were only a couple I read out of the hundreds of comments on their website - did CHP holders and gun owners generally a disservice.

Yes, absolutely. My closest friends know I carry, my parents don't (makes it interesting when they come out to visit).

It's not anyone else's business if I carry or not, and I consider that private information.

Yes I would. Same for publishing my medical history, how I voted, who I owe money to, what church I go to, and how often I burn calories in bed with wife.

ha...

...I'm still pis*** that there IS SUCH A THING as a *permit* involved...For some reason, I just have a problem asking for permission to exercise my rights...anyofthem... sterb003.gif

I do not care.

I would rather open carry any way and I feel that as more of the sheep see that all the gun owners that are not a threat to thier well being they will get more comfortable with the idea. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

If someone needs to know I carry, I tell them myself. While some may see me open carrying, they can discern that I have a gun, but they cannot determine where I live. I prefer that kept private.

Sounds good to me...I was just getting baffled by continuing assertions by someone else that by complaining about the paper, and hoping they're put out of business by lawsuits brought by people harmed by their publishing of the list...

...That I was making the pro-2A movement "look bad" by "promiting the 2nd while trashing the 1st! :scrutiny:

Here in GA it is against our state statute to give out that kind of information. Only LE can have access to it but they must have a very legit reason to see it.

i would care if they posted anything about me. i don't care if it is my drivers license, medical records, act scores, or whatever. my business is just that. MINE.

In theory...

A public record is a public record, and anybody can look at it.

In practice, I am minded of something I read about a state in which driver's license and/or car tag info was publically readable by all.

It seems somebody got all exercised at being affronted on the road, looked up the the other guy's home address, and went there to remonstrate with him.

Violently so.

I think that state now restricts access to such info.

Only policemen and direct-mail marketers may look at it now.

Yes, I certainly would mind.
It is no ones business what I have in my wallet unless I feel like telling them. And I sure as :cuss: don't feel like it..........

Yes. It's a violation of my rights and my privacy. It opens me up for attack and gives criminals an idea of where to go to steal guns. It wouldn't be called CONCEALED carry if it were meant to be advertised. That's called OPEN carry. Two different things. I'm not at all ashamed of owning or carrying guns, but I don't want the criminal element knowing that I do.

I would be very upset

It would give away my cover in the church I go to, which has complete passifism as it's creed.:p
Plus, I am trying very hard to be a defenseless old man in order to lure in the criminal element so's I's can surprise's 'em:evil:
