I have been thinking of getting a new 9mm, but want something different, something not as ugly as my Glocks.:what:

I would like to know more on a personal level what everyone thinks about the CZ P01.

I my use it for CCW so is it too heavy???

How does it shot and what's the recoil like?????

Is it a b#*ch to clean or disassemble????

Give me the good, bad and ugly PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I am considering selling my G34 to get a CZ P01:banghead:

I love mine. It shoots great and gets back on target quickly. It isn't as heavy as you would think, the loaded mag feels like it weighs more than the firearm itself. It is pretty easy to disassemble, but not as easy as Glock or Sig. I have the Crimson Trace grips on mine and prefer the feel of them to the stock rubber grips.

The PCR looks better (same gun minus the accessory rail-which makes the gun look fat in the front.) but CZ makes a quality product.

If the Glock 19 did not exist the CZ PCR would be my weapon of choice.

CZ makes good guns, but there are the occasional lemons (one friend of mine has a pretty bad 85 Combat, another had TWO really bad 75Bs- one CZ gave him to replace his original gun when they couldn't fix it after multiple attempts, the replacement wasn't as bad but it certainly wasn't reliable). I've had two good ones, with my CZ 75B having over 10K rounds through it with only a small handful of hiccups. When you get a good one, it will be a great gun. My full-size CZ 75B may also be the most accurate gun I own (the barrel is no where near shot out), some may be the 10K+ rounds means I have a lot of practice with it, but it has always been very accurate for me.

I love the look of most CZs, but I think the P01 with the bulky looking accessory rail up front is ugly (beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you may or may not agree). I don't feel the need for an accessory rail, so I'd much rather get the much better looking PCR. For a few years I planned to get a PCR as my primary carry when visiting a carry state (my Taurus PT140 Millennium Pro and S&W 1911SC take on that role now making the PCR pretty unnecessary). Still, I sometimes consider picking up a PCR, just because.

If you like the P01 you probably won't go wrong giving it a try. Of course, I still suggest giving the PCR a solid look as well, then get the one you prefer between them.

I'm new to CZ and the only one I own right now is the P-01. So far I've really enjoyed the gun. It is easy to carry and light. I've only put a couple hundred rounds through it which were mostly handloads with zero malfunctions. I want to get some new grips because the rubber factory grips tend to catch on my clothing and the double action trigger is a bit long for me. Apparently I have small hands. I really like the looks of the PCR better than the P-01 but you can use the same holster as most glocks if you buy the P-01. Plus, the rail is there if you need it but you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

My PCR (essentially a P-01 with a more streamlined frame due to no accessory rail) is one of my favorite pistols. It is neither difficult to shoot nor to strip and clean.

I'm gonna pick one up in a few months. I've got a 75B and love it. I wanted a compact auto, and rented a Sig 229 but it seemed top heavy and a little large for my hand. I know the 228 would fix some of that but they didn't have one. The Glock 19 is a great gun but the lack of a long DA pull makes me nervous about carrying IWB. So the P01 is good compromise with a low trim slide it should balance well and have the DA first shot. From my 75B I know they make a reliable and accurate auto. There are a couple youtube reviews...not as many as I'd like.

I love my P01. It is a great shooting, reliable gun. I love the grips that come with it, but as has been said, if you carry it concealed to do catch, as well at the rubber base of the magazine. I feel like both of these features are comfortable for shooting but hinder concealed carry, but they are both easy to fix - new grips, and new mags wihout the base.

I love mine, works great alone or with the 22lr adapter.

its about the same as a G19 in dimensions / weight.

I carry a P01 every day of the week, bar none. It has been reliable, accurate and durable. I have had 300% more Glocks fail in my hand than CZs, too, but I guess I am just lucky. I also carry a PCR as BUG, and both gus carry easily in quality holster on good belts. Don't skimp on the leather, and you will be happy. Excellent sidearms - I bet my life on one.

I'd also say look at the PCR if you don't need the rail on the P-01.

My wife gave up Glocks when a new PCR came home with me.

The PCR is one sweet machine! Esp. after installing a #15 mainspring and
Crimson Trace laser grips.

I like the look of the P-01. Aluminum frame on P-01 is forged and on PCR it is cast. My P-01 is very durable and never failed to fire in 4 years I've had it. Accurate, too. Great sidearm.

I carry a SIG 229R everyday for work and shoot the snot out of it..good gun, but if I had my choice I would carry my CZ P-01! It has a better trigger (after breaking it in) and shoots rings around my SIG (not easy to do). It feels like it was made for my hand and is very reliable. Buy it and shoot it and you will be very happy!

I have a 75 compact and have owned a PCR. I really liked the PCR, but prefer all steel and carry 1 option so I stuck with the compact. Either way you can't go wrong with CZ! I have owned a Glock 19, XD9, Sig 225 and for me the CZ is the better option. Good luck.

I have the CZ PCR and the Glock G34, I have to admit the G34 is the most accurate 9mm I have shot, I would not get rid of it. The PCR to me is a tool, a beautiful tool, I will carry it everywhere, it shoots great, low recoil, conceals well and so far has been totally reliable. Take down is not as easy as a Glock or SIG, more like a 1911, have to push out the pin/slidelock. The CZ P01 is a heavy duty version of the PCR, made to exceed NATO specs. DA trigger on my CZ is long and strong, the SA is great but could be made better. MY only reservation about my CZ PCR is the finish, its... well it's a spray on finish... paint. Still I would not hesitate to purchase a CZ P01 or PCR for personal defense and range time, the main differences between the two: P01 forged frame, PCR cast, P01 front rail, PCR none and is slimmer, PCR has a loaded chamber indicator that can be easily seen and felt, P01 none. I needed a pistol that fit a niche, the CZ PCR, P01 and Glock G19 fit that niche, as soon as I held the PCR I had to have it, it fit my hand like I was born with it. Get a CZ, but keep the G34, I traded a S&W model 59 (that I tried to love) to get the PCR, the PCR out shoots many larger pistols, and its sexy as a pistol gets. Trade something like an Xd for the P01, CZ sexy Xd not.

Thank you for your input, I have been thinking abut the G34 all night. It is a great gun, but I have small hands that really fit the 19&23 models.

To everyone

Why is there only a .1 oz difference according to CZ USA in weight between the P01 and PCR. They are made differently (one cast & one forged) are they made from the same material???????????????

For some reason, the PCR did seem lighter than my P-01.
That was before I installed the Bedair stainless guide rod in
the P-01.

I would probably PO1, but I think I will PCR first. I have no use for the rail, but that is just me.

PCR uses lighter aluminum alloy on the frame in addition to being slightly less volume due to no acc. rail. CZF should chime in or correct me, if he comes along.

As to OP's questions, CZ is a much better looking pistol and feel much much much better in your hand.

confused

I am in the middle of the road with the PCR and the P01. I went to the range today and shoot the P01 because they didn't have a PCR, WOW:what: that little booger soots nice!!!!! It felt good in the hand and recoil, what recoil????

I still love the looks of the P01, but I don't need the rail. I think it is the full dust cover that makes it look Sigish. Wish I could have handle a PCR, but they didn't even have one for sale.:cuss:

Yes, both the PCR and P-01 are very soft on recoil.

I think that the PCRs generally have better triggers than the
P-01s, even though most PCRs come with that chromed grooved service
trigger. Other Police C'eska Republic owners will probably agree.

Something you can smooth out if the grooves bother you.

You might want to contact Jason Steele. He is the unofficial Resident Dealer
for CZforum.com

His prices are superb and customer service is fantastic.
Hopefully..he can set you up with a nice PCR at a cut-rate price.

Tell him that I sent you:)
