Would you CZ P01

Did the PCR and P-01 improve the trigger pull over the CZ-75? I like CZs, but have held off buying one cause that little creepy part at the break where the hammer rocks slightly kills me.

I keep a P01 as a bedside gun and damn glad it has a rail for the TRL1 light on it. I had Comp Tac make a hoster for it. lt is exceedingly accurate with the Ranger loads it is full of.Has not malfed in 2k rounds these last 4 years or so.I like a decocker with no safety. Very doable for CCW BUT if I did I'd put on non rubber grips.

The PCR I bought in Nov. 2007 has this "hammer camming."

All of the B series guns have the 'camming' but a good trigger job elimates most of it.

My 1985 Pre-B has the best trigger for any CZ ever.

The 1990 (for sale) Pre-B is nearly as good, but it
has not had any trigger work.

My CZ-USA tuned Custom 75B Stainless was a close third, with a hint of
camming.

The guy I sold it to was/is thrilled with it!

In any event, if you love CZs, then you learn to live with them.

Took the plung

OK, I looked at the PCR and shot the P01, being a Glock guy I loved the CZ. So, I did some searching and bought a PCR.

Any recommendations on what grain bllet to use?

What round PCR's don't like (practice)

Nice Call! CZs feed most anything you put into them except for some
out of spec reloads.
We are liking the Blazer Brass and Remington FMJ, but our PCR
and P-01 gobbles up Blazer and Winchester as well.

Currently my p-01 and RAMI are stoked with the exquisite
Hornady FTX 9mm

Her PCR is loaded with the standard pressure Gold Dot 124 gr. JHP.
a wears Crimson Trace laser grips now.

Here is the mini-review:

CZF

Thanks CZF for the info.

I have the Hornady FTX for my KT 380.

I was thinking some 124 +P.

I can't believe how nice the P01/PCR shoot. I am a Glock guy for sre but if the PCR proves to be great I may put it into the rotation. I still am thinking about getting a P01.

Next or now I am searching for a Kadet Kit for my PCR.

I have one and it's great. The grip is excellent. More accurate than me.

I have had some failure to eject with aluminum cased ammo. The trigger also takes time to get used to.

I would buy again. I keep eyeballing the RAMI in 9mm.

Only thing my CZs have failed on is some reloads I screwed up, not one buro with factory ammo. In my not humble at all opinion, best avilable.

Congrats on the purchase. I think the PCR is a great gun, it should serve you well.

In 9mm I am a fan of the mid-weight rounds. The heavy JHPs don't always open, the lighter weights don't always penetrate enough in ballistic gel when a "barrier" of clothing is added. The 124gr seems to have the best of both (similar to heavy 9mm penetration, lightweight 9mm JHP performance reliability) without the weaknesses. I don't usually use +Ps except in .38spl (I'm not convinced that compared with a good standard pressure round you get enough extra to compensate for the extra wear on the gun), but that isn't set in stone as I have been known to occasionally buy +P (there have been loadings that looked good, or rounds that my guns really liked that happened to be 9mm+P or .45+P). I haven't really noticed my CZ having any ammo preferences (I don't know if that will translate to the smaller PCR). I think in choosing the PCR you made a great choice.

For holsters may I suggest checking out Holsters by Eric (http://www.hbeleatherworks.com/). Eric was one of the founding members here and a regular member at The Firing Line, I don't know if he still posts in either place. He was a big CZ fan and part-time holster maker who saw a niche (CZs were popular with people who knew guns but there weren't many holsters out there for them at the time) and went into making holsters full-time. He has a great reputation (I do plan to treat myself to one of his holsters myself one of these days) and he specializes in CZ.

congrats ghostrider - as many will tell you CZs tend to multiply. I have 3 - P01, SP01 and a P07 - they are great - had some trouble with the P07 but CZ's excellent customer service took care of it (actually sent me a brand new pistol) - so I couldn't be happier with CZ - they're not the steal they used to be price wise, but IMO they're still a pretty decent bargain. so yeah - a P01 in your future is probably a safe bet.

What are the internal differences between the PCR and the P-01? I've read the 'torture test' info from the NATO trials for the P-01. Would the PCR stand up to the same abuse? What about the P-01 would be considered an 'upgrade' from the PCR?

wanna see the best, the lightest of them all?

I held this at Impact gun's Salt Lake City store. CZ custom scalloped so much and shaved so much weight off of this gun that it is as light as air. i thought i was going to throw it up into the air when he placed it in my hand, i was so shocked how light it was.
it is based off of the 9mm compact PCR
it has-
Novak Style Tritium Height Adjustable Rear Sight.
Tritium Front Sight
Octagon flat top slide
Slide Relief Cut on front of Slide
Slim Aluminum Grips panels
Custom SA DA Decoker Hammer.
Deburred external surfaces.
Durable Hard Anodized Finish
Blued Slide

this gun is noticably lighter, but i cannot seem to find the weight of it.
notice the guide rod in the picture, the better barrel, the shavings off of the slide to make it almost like an octogon, and the cuts into the grip frame. also notice the hammer difference and the sort of bushing thing around the barrel as well.
this is one sweet gun, and i want it.
but the price?

a shocking $1,349.99

To give you an idea about the ProTek one, a creation of czcustom.com, Angus Hobdell, CZ-USA's premier shooter, and holder of more trophies than I have seen in a trophy shop, carries a ProTek1 as his personal CCW pistol. I want one...can't afford it, not yet.

Don't overlook the FN Herstal FNP-9. After putting the first 100 rounds through mine, I sold my G-19. Just a really nice shooter and carries well with the right holster. They are priced similar to the Glocks.

The PCR I bought in Nov. 2007 has this "hammer camming."

this is the reason i traded off a 75BD. i was hoping by now cz was installing a different hammer sear engagement.

My PCR has an EXCELLENT trigger with very little camming. Its lighter and crisper than my 75B, but that also has a very good trigger, especially for pistol designed as a military sidearm. My 75B is from the 1996 Turkish military contract overun.

Re: Omega Trigger.

Know that after months and months of waiting...

My local shop had a Duty when I stopped by to drop off the last of my CZ-USA catalogs,
and also a few P-07 Duty fliers.

Sillky light SA with a hint of creep in the DA that Is
light years beyond the usual 75B camming.

And it seemed quite compact and thin in my hands.
I can't believe that a double stack 16 shot magazine
fit in a gun so Thin!

The frame would probably chew up my girly hands in no time.

I Would put on a grip sleeve of some sort.

I was delighted with the way it felt pointed..better than a Glock 19,
but still a bit blocky like a Glock.

Nancy liked it, too.

No issues with slide lock,,hard to release the slide, or mags sticking.

I can really see why CZUB and CZ-USA are so excited about this gun!

Again, it is light, compact, points well and has a superb trigger for a decocker
gun. I think that Omega trigger in SA almost made me cry:)

However, the saddest part is that with Christmas coming up and
Nancy's health insurance rates going up!

I'll probably not able able to afford one until Summertime in 2010.

The P-01 is a fantastic gun. Anybody who tries mine on for size, always has one question afterwards. How much does it cost? Everyone loves the ergonomics and accuracy.

Cleaning is very comparable to the Glock. Instead of the "takedown tabs" the Glock has, you just pull the slide release out. That's about the only difference. Very easy.
