my friend bought a sig 2022 last year. he really wanted the p226 but that was all he could afford so he got that instead. i on the other had just over the summer bought a gsg5 (1st anniversary) and was telling him about it. i've been searching for this gun for two years and finally found one. i love the gun and almost everytime goes with me to the range... how ever i wanted the all black finish version and ended up spray painting the chrome finish to black. it turned out good but scratched easy. i kind of wanted to trade it for another tactical .22 such as the colt m4 or the ruger because i did not know about them until after i bought the gsg5. i told my friend that and he offered to trade me his rarely shot sig for the gsg5. i was thinking about it for a while about trading it, or selling it for the other tactical gun, until i heard that gsg or ati is being sued and it's being discontinued and who knows when i might ever see one again... what would you guys do? if only the sig was a 226 i would definately trade but .22 is my new favorite caliber..

Well, just an fyi, thy WERE sued and the GSG5 IS being discontinued, its not an if anymore, unfortunatly.

As for your question? Sounds like ya love the thing, so, I'd say no. If you like shooting it that much, I'd only trade it if you found the type you'd prefer to get, not a pistol you can still buy if you choose to at some point.

yeah they're out of production. i do love it but i would trade it for the m4 type .22lr if i could but i'll lose the value of the gun. it only cost me $500+, who knows what they will give me, at least $200 cause it's a .22lr? lol

No idea, but, I'd look around here before getting that M4 .22lr, if you're talking about the Colt licensed Umarex or something like that, I havent looked into it, but when I HAVE seen things, its been bad. You might be better off getting a regular AR and a .22lr conversion kit for it. It'll cost more, but might be better off for it if what I HAVE seen is true, and the standard all of their rifles are held to...

I'd keep it, no question.

When popular things are discontinued, prices go up, not down. I'd still keep it. From what I can see, most folks who've sold guns they liked later report that they regret having sold them. Including me. :)

i already have an ar with a .22 kit, i just like and prefer the ar/m4 platform. yea the colt/umarex, that's the one. if only the magazine didn't stick out a mile i would be great..

Would...help if I read your sig, wow....I feel...bit dumb now lol.

Well, either way, I'd keep the GSG5, I get a feeling you'd distinctly regret trading/selling it. Either save your pennies and get the Umarex, or, heck, get a new AR, afterall, can never have too many, right? Or an M4 style upper and stock set.

Keep the GSG, but resist the temptation to use it often.
I own a first generation GSG5 and its been back twice to be fixed. First off the breech block carrier shattered, its only light cast alloy and itsn't very robust. It was replaced with the 2nd generation carrier which is made out of better metal.
Secondly the breech block spring guide snapped for no apparent reason.

Its a good fun gun though.

Keep the GSG as you can afford to shoot it a lot.
It is about a break even price if the Sig 2022 has night sites, extra mags and a holster. I have put a lot of accessories into my GSG-5PK. Fax silencer and adapter, new screws, scope mount and 5 mags.
