But … but … we’ve been told by all the self proclaimed Combat Masters, guys that actually have “Combat Master” engraved in their 1911s, that the only way of putting a man down so quickly is hitting the central nervous system with a JHP 45 ACP!
He dropped because she shot him in the gut? Unbelievable! Does it hurt being shot in the stomach at all?
Amazing!
Seriously now, that lady has one big pair of eggs.

Shooting a person in an area that disables their central nervous system is clearly not the only way to take them down; as is shown by the video. (heres the "but":) BUT, if that man had been drinking all day and way severly intoxicated by anhy number of drugs, I doubt very highly that he would have gone down so readily.

Frankly, I think that most armed citizens ARE more afraid of the cops than the criminals!

And that sure IS a sorry state of affairs in this country.

Seconded. Both parts.

At the risk of being redundant, What a quick draw!

Bill Jordon would have been impressed with her technique! Especially for a beginner.

I obviously dont know any details, but id say the reason that shot dropped him is cause he didnt think he was gonna get hit, and wasnt mentally prepared. That shot in combat against an armed opponent willing to fight would have needed to be followed up to relieve threat. Maybe im wrong but i strongly agree that in these type situations the attacker falls due to learned response of what you should do when you are shot, his body could have kept fighting if his will so desired, that being said, glad she got him, clean shoot.

I think the main difference is that he didnt have a weapon to fight back with. If he had had some way of fighting back, I think that out of anger and fear of another slug coming his way he would have stood fighting and probably not end up ever hitting the ground. If he had thought it was a one shot derringer or something he probably would have gotten up and ran out the door before the cops got there. I think that in general the kind of person that holds up stores is the same kind of person that can play the sympathy card. he may have just been using sympathy as a SD method (ie "dont shoot me again, please dont shoot me again!!!")
He may also just be a big baby, but I think I might also act like a little bit of a baby if iI had just been shot in th gut with a .357 mag.

I am impressed. She has never fired a pistol before and makes a smooth draw from a hidden location, without fumbling or disharging the firearm, and shoots the man one-handed from a seated position.

I know that the distance isnt extreme for getting a body shot, but I think this woman handled the situation well. A very good judgement call and an illustration in risk assesment.

Gutshot :barf: The only better way to do it is with a .41 rimfire.

Does it hurt being shot in the stomach at all

From first hand experience, I can tell you it hurts like a mother-humper to get shot in the stomach. I mean, it really sucks.

That shot in combat against an armed opponent willing to fight would have needed to be followed up to relieve threat.

Again from first hand experience, when I got shot in the gut, I could have easily shot back had I needed to. As a matter of fact, my first instinct was to actually stand up (I was sort of in a squatting position when I got shot). I personally was only able to stand up a couple of seconds before I went down like a wet sack of bricks, but in any case I was still capable of "combat" for a relatively long period of time.

One thing that I think gets overlooked here is her judgement. She said she was going to pop him again, but held back from doing so. Granted, a lot of that decision was out of her control (cops running in), but the end result is that she shot him exactly enough times to stop the threat. I don't know about you guys, but I have always been taught that you shoot to stop the threat and no more. From a legal standpoint, I would think (or at least hope) that covers her nicely in court, because she very easily could have stood there and pumped that guy full of lead.

I hope everything turns out well for her. That BG or family will definitely sue her and the storeowner. Their insurance will probably have to make some sort of settlement because it will be cheaper than attorney fees to win a civil lawsuit.

If it was me in that situation, I probably would have shot him 3 times due to training and would have been jailed for using excessive force.

Yeah, I actually did something similar during a much less stressful force-on-force scenario. I shot a guy down to the ground and hit him at least twice more as he lay on the ground before my brain finally got the "STOP" message to my trigger finger. I hate to think how that would have looked in a real scenario.

Good restraint on the shooter's part here.

You guys should browse around that site for more videos.

Ahhh, the old Ogrish.com site.

Where else can you watch non-stop beheadings and all other sorts of cruel stuff done to living things? Watch your step in there...

Nice point shooting

No kidding - truly text book quality.

Something to keep in mind: had that been a semi-auto (with the exception of a safetyless glock) she'd likely have been stuck with

A revolver is like a hammer. Pull the trigger and it goes bang; damn near everyone knows how they work in that limited sense. Always a good idea to have a revolver for defense in an area where there are going to be multiple people - multiple people who are not intimately familiar with the state of the firearm (loaded? safety? chambered?).

Frankly, I'm surprised that a convenience store where there are hired employees has firearms on hand for defense. That most rational thing to believe - partially based on her quick response, and partially based on the existence of the gun at all - that it's in a high crime area where every patron might be watched with a cagey eye. (She did look like she emptied the cash drawer in a fairly casual, unstressed manner, as if it were a regular occurance!)

EDIT: Oh, and I should note: that woman moved fast! Very impressive point shooting indeed! I hope her conscience doens't bother over the matter.

Rollin'

On da floor. Good for her; she dropped him faster than a hot potato! :D

Another mistake she made: Not going through the guys pockets and taking HIS money.

Delivered to your door...doesn't get any better than that, does it?

Well, on second thought, with the camera there...

;)

HOOAH!

Nicely done, ma'am.

When you are in fear for your life ladies, and it is time to decide "live or die", the first clue he has that you are armed should be the muzzle flash. Surprise is a priceless tactical advantage.

Great to she that she came out physically unscathed. The fact of the matter is that he appeared to be concealing a weapon and pointing it at her, the demand for the money/robbery should have been enough to shoot him.

if I had been the clerk I would have done the same thing, give'em the money and whilst he is preoccumpied go for the weapon and bang!

I sure thought she looked surprised that the gun went off. She sure was justified in shooting him. What surprised me was the LEO's, they both had their backs to her for quite long enough for.... Or maybe i missed something?

She did good, I pray for her peace of mind.

Gbro
