So at the tail end of September, I found a case of Wolf (7.62x39) at one of my local stores....the difference between this Wolf and the "regular" is that it is the "yellow box" stuff...non magnetic, copper jacketed. Anyways, I bought half the case (500 rounds) and charged it on my new credit card. 70 bucks.

Long story short, I had been looing for this stuff for a long time...most of the 7.62x39 was the Bi-Metal jacketed stuff, which I can't shoot at my local range. So when I got home, I decided to go back and purchase the rest of the case. Charged it. Another 70 dollars.

$140.00 dollars total...however, only one $70.00 charge made it to the card. I called the credit card company and asked them...they have no record of the transaction. I asked what I should do, and they didn't really say anything other than it can take "awhile" to show up.....it had been over a month! So here it is, the beginning of November and the charge has NOT been reflected. I have the receipit for the transaction, but still no charge.

Now, I want to be good for this...And I kind of feel like I am getting something for nothing...at the same time, I don't want to march into the shop and tell them what happened and fork over the dough only to have the thing charged later on and I'm screwed. What the hell should I do???

sorry if i'm rambling a bit, had a few scotches tonight LOL.

I've had charges show up as much as 50 days after the purchase date.

Give it another month. Call the card company to make sure it still isn't on there. You might mention the vendor, the date, the amount and have them check to make sure it didn't go against some other lucky winner's card (very unlikely but possible).

At that point what action(s) you take is purely a function of your personal value system.

Do what you think is right. If you've a mind to let us know what your choice is.

UP TO YOU!

Been on both sides of that fence. I own a small business, and in Sept, we learned that nearly $3000 in charges that our website showed as cleared, were never even charged... This was in a 6 month period.

An honest man, after several weeks of not seeing the charge tipped me off. I could have lost even more.... He called and asked. after investigating, we found others. And that lead to the solution.

I gave him his order free.

If your asking what "I" would do....................I would give it another month, if it didn't show; I would make it right.

regardless, i WILL be good for it. i'll give it another month and see what happens i guess.

I'm NOT going to screw the shop. It's the only indoor pistol range that is reasonably close to me, and I want to support them. Not only that, my buddy use to be an instructor there before getting shipped off to the sandbox...his buddy that works the counter always treats me right....I'm not going to say anything for now, but come December if it hasn't been charged, I will make things right for sure....

I have made a point of teaching my kids honesty is doing what is right even when you will not get caught. you get home and realize the cashier gave you too much change, bring it back.

that said, I must admit that at times i have not done as i said, not because I felt I was pulling a fast one, but the cost of the fix way usually outweighed the mistake.

However there is one store which will remain nameless that has a mistake in the programming and i know it and I will not tell you what it is, but if you buy case, the price comes up as single purchase. no matter what it is. I figure that after a year, they have had enough time to figure it out. if you buy a case of anything in the store it has the same sku on the box as the individual items on the inside.

Call the dealer first, let them know what happened before the paperwork gets lost, filed whatever. You will be a friend for life with them.

Now this is just me but, I would call the store and explain the situation

Honesty is always best

I have called before been put on hold for over an hour, passed around and treated like crap for trying to find out why an $800 dollar charge wasn't
on my statement for over 3 months.

They just didn't care.

Another time a restaurant I frequent showed the credit card charge (way too low) I went in and told them what happened and they just gave me a blank stare and said "ooookay.

I'll keep being honest even though some don't seem to care much.

The CC company may have stripped the second transaction out. I've heard (take it for what it's worth) that the exact same same dollar amount being charged multiple times from the same location in a relatively short time frame pops up as a double posting & is deleted.

Just an alternate theory, however in this case let the owner know. I generally try to fix any undercharging/overchanging on a store's end. However I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time arguing with the clerk that he gave me too much change/didn't scan one of the items. If they don't want to admit that sometimes they make a mistake then I get a bonus that day.

Way back in the mists of time when Mrs. L & I were dating we were out Christmas shopping for a nutcracker for my mom. The thing cost somewhere around $14 & I gave the clerk $20 to pay for it. The clerk gave me back $25 in change :uhoh: . Not wanting to look dishonest in front of the future Mrs. L (even though a free Christmas gift & $25 would have been real handy back then) I told the clerk that she made a mistake with the change & handed it back. The clerk walked me through the various steps of the transaction, it cost $14 & I gave her $20 & the change came to $25 :scrutiny: . TFML & I looked at each other quite confused as the clerk's explanation made sense the way that she said it & asked her to go through the steps again (hoping that the light bulb would come on & I could get my $6 in change back). The clerk very patiently went through how she came up with that amount of change for the third time & once again it made sense. So we shrugged our shoulders & took the money & bought a pizza for lunch.

Now I just wish that I could remember her alternate theory of fiscal transactions, I'd be rich by now with all the excess change  .

If it hasn't shown up on your statement after 2 "billing cycles", then visit your dealer face-2-face, explain what happened, and give him the cash.

I'd contact the store and have them pull their records for the day to make sure they charged your card. If the store got their money, then it is your credit card company's fault. Don't lose any sleep over it if your credit card company is out $70. You called them, and they weren't too concerned.

I've heard of this as well.

I know a guy that said it heppened to him, but he's pretty much FOS most of the time, so I cant say that I believed him.

Anyway, I'd let the dealer know what was going on.

You have already decided to do the right thing
Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
