XD 9 question

Last week I picked up a new 4" XD 9. I really like the gun. I had a bunch of Remington UMC "value pak" 115 fmj to burn up so I "broke in" the gun with that. I also had my XDM 9 with me. Both guns failed to lock the slide open twice out all of the 250 rounds. I never had had this problem with the XDM before. This is the first time I have used the cheap remington stuff. Could this be an ammo issue? mag issue?

Probably not enough spunk to fully rack the slide back, but enough to cycle the gun.

ammo issue...most of the cheap stuff out there is underloaded

is there anyway that you are accidentally hitting the slide release on recoil, and not allowing the slide to get locked back? sometimes that happens with a good thumbs foward grip,that was my issue early on with my xd, but you figure out how you need to shoot it, to keep that thumb from intefering, it takes time. that might be your problem, or maybe the what the others said.
