XD Vs. M&P: Comparison?

I own both in .40 S&W. I love them both. my M&P is an early model. Numerous problems... BUT S&W took care of me like I was the CEO of the company. Super fast, no arguments. Now it is flawless. I have a few friends who have newer M&Ps and have had zero problems after as many as 4K rounds.

I own many different makes including 6 Sigs and I will tell you both of these shoot as well as any other gun I own.

Buy either one and you'll be a happy camper.

I've shot my son's XD service .45 and really liked it out to 10-12 yds. It's never had a problem of ANY kind.
At 15 to 25yds my accuracy dropped off fast. Maybe it was just me. I also didn't like pulling the trigger to tear it down.
It 'SOUNDS' like the XDM (.40 & 9) has fixed everything I didn't like. With the longer match-grade barrel, it should be as accurate as my CZ. The 'M' tears down just like my Sig.

I only shot the 9mm S&W once and liked the feel ( I too have small hands), but I didn't like the trigger and didn't shoot it as well. No offense intended to anyone, but it 'felt' cheap to me.

I own a Springfield XD 9mm a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm and a Smith & Wesson M&P compact 9mm.

Springfield has the best out of the box trigger of all the black plastic guns.

Both weapons feel good in the hand although my personal preference as a point shooter is the Smith & Wesson M&P.

In an endurance test, I assisted in putting over 30,000 rounds through a 9mm M&P before we broke any part. The part that broke on the gun did not stop the gun from operating.

My biggest complaint with the Springfield is it's disclaimer at the back of the owners manual. In a nut shell it states, your gun may shoot point of aim point of impact or it may shoot higher than point of aim (????). Ability of shooter and different types of ammo will cause different points of impact. The disclaimer also suggests holding 6 o'clock on a bullseye target if your weapon shoots high. I didn't get very lucky with my XD purchase. It shoot's 6" high at 25 yards. Time to upgrade to some night sights.
