I shoot in the Southern Id desert. Lost of dry brush in the summer.

Does this stuff spark a lot with the steel penetrator? I have only shot PP 62 GR FMJ. No green tip.

I am down to much less than half a case and want to restock that and and some wolf 7.62x39 as soon as I can as the weather is starting to pick up.

Thanks!

I've been shooting green tip for over 15 years (mainly military, but in competition and plinking use, too), and I've never had an issue with sparking. Setting things on fire with tracers and...various other types of ordnance, yes, but never any issues with straight green tip ammo.

Not something I would worry about, copper is a Non Sparking Metal, it will prevent the internal core from, putting out anything big enough, hot enough to start a fire. Now bouncing it off steel plates around a flammable liquid, all bets off, but desert plinking, gofor it..

Have shot M855 Green Tip at night and personally never seen an ark and spark.

There has been a couple of wild fires around here that were blamed on M855 green tip the past couple years. I have a few hundred rounds of it, but don't use it for plinking ammo.

I have shot thousands of M855 ammo through my ar in Pocatello, Inkom, Idaho Falls, and McAmmon in the driest months. I would not be afraid to shoot it at all. I would not ever risk shooting a tracer in the summer time there. It WILL start a fire.

Also, there are two kinds of Southern Idaho. Southeast Idaho and Boise area. My guess is you are in the Boise area? They are similar in terrain but also totally different.
