Yard signs

matrem You were so dang CLOSE.

(at least I think so)

Spoiler (maybe)

"QT31416" Cute (T) 3.14156 (rounded up to 3.1416 which everyone knows is "Pie" So Cute, T, pie = Cutie-pie
Thats my guess anyway.

How about a sign that says:

WE SELL AMWAY

I guarantee no one will come on your property.

:p

"God, I need a drink, alcoholic of course, after all these lectures exploring quantum mechanics, all in Old Slavonic."

"3.141592653589793238"

And by the way, pie are not squared. Pie are round.

As for posting warning signs, most of these criminal types didn't score too highly in Reading Comprehension.

Barking dogs, an ADT sign, and some motion activated lights are prudent.

Maybe a motion activated recording of Clint Eastwood saying, "Go ahead, punk. Make my day." (Would hang you in court, though.)

I was thinking of getting a few yard signs such as "protected by .38 special".
If effective at all , it would be so only on the literate. Get one with an illustration like

Mine_Sign.jpg
:D

Mine says "THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS HOUSE WORTH DYING FOR" but its not a yard sign, just a sticker on the door.

I have a small sticker on my door that will probably go right over the head of anyone who is actually breaking in.

"If you are found here tonight, you will be found here tomorrow."

If someone is dumb enough to try and get into my house in the first place, they probably couldn't care less about ANY sign.

Therefore, I chose a humorous one.

I bet if you put out a sign that says
Trespassers Will Be Sodomized
you won't have any problems with intruders.

That kinda depends on the intruder, doesn't it?

I have a feeling the enforcement of this sign will either be extremely difficult, or entirely too easy.

Trespassers Will Be Sodomized

and the Minefield sign are both pretty funny =D Unless we live in like Namibia or something the mine one probably won't work, and most criminals probably don't know what sodomize means.

On a serious note; an ADT or some kind of alarm system sign might help. I know an alarm system isn't going to stop a burglar, but if they have the option of a house that had an alarm system, and one that doesn't, pretty good chances they are going to go for the house without it.

I am the type of person that does not advertise owning guns. I make it a point to not let anyone know I am armed.
However one day I was taking out the trash and heard someone in the backyard taking my cans. Just as I about to make my presence known I heard one say, are those bullet holes, the other guy says I think so. After a few seconds the other says what in the world did that. The other guy says I have no idea and I am not going to find out.
I stepped around the corner and asked what they were doing in my yard. The look on their faces was priceless. Lots of stuttering and looking at me and the target.

I told them I don't appreciate you being on my property and if you would have asked I would have given you the cans.
I let them have the cans and never seen them again. I also put the target out of sight.

Won't attract the best attention from the neighbors either. Don't know what the people are like at the West Pole but I'm sure there is at least one person who would get uber nervious and call the police. Oh plus what everyone else said.

The solution:

The mathematical constant pi is 3.14159, usually rounded to 3.1416.

Since the license plate generator does not allow decimal points, it becomes 31416.

Thus, QT31416 = QT pi = "Cutie Pi," or "Cutie Pie."

Kind of a stretch, but I felt like a genius when I myself finally figured it out and smote my forehead.

Sorry for delay in response, but I haven't been on the board for a while.

Sometimes the advice on these threads amazes me. Like everyones a lawyer which these days is laughable since just about everyone is or could be.

Jeepers, anyone can get their hands on some lawbooks and even put them to use. Im not saying lawyers are not more knowledgeable on the stuff but if you have been through a few years of college you're halfway there,.

Now why am I posting this?

Someone here mentioned not posting "Beware of Dog" signs because "They'll get you in court" or whatever.

No, if fact in many locales if you do not post the sign and a bad guy comes on your property and gets bit by the dog, "YOU" are gonna get sued by the bad guy and lose.

In my area, I have to note on my fance that it is indeed electrified.

However, "No Tresspassing" signs on 4 conspicous corners of the fence is considered posting and a tresspasser, well.... you get the idea.

A neighbor of mine has "I dont call 911, I am 911" painted in large letters on the side of his barn, clearly visible from both directions when driving down the road.

I wonder how many times anyone has screwed with him. Oh yeah, no one screws with that guy but he repairs our vehicles out of that garage.

I dont have a sign that says anything about guns or whatever. But, I might be of the opinion that just vecause you have the sign doesnt mean you're gonna get robbed of your guns. First, it may be considered kinda like OC'ing and simply deter the crook.

Second, if he gets in and can carry an 800 lb safe out the door before the dogs get to him, heck he's my hero and should be given the guns as a prize.

Third, unless he's been watching you everyday for a while, he probably doesnt know your patterns. If he has been watching, he knows there are some huge dogs to get through as well as the electric fence.

He's probably not gonna take a chance that someone is home with the .38...

Just my.02 Merry Christmas and carry on!

We now take you back to our regularly scheduled THR lawyer special. LOL

Well, I'm getting a little old for this sort of thing, and my potbelly is starting to hide my belt buckle. And you should know that I can shoot fast, and I can shoot accurately, but I generally have to pick one or the other. Oh, and I'm going to need about $100 an hour plus a relocation bonus. Let me know when I start.

HAH.

Bad idea to post signs indicating what you've got.

A cop once told me that he always keeps an eye on vehicles with AA stickers because there's a good chance the driver has had a few. Remember, things can be perceived differently.

Like others have said already, your sign will not be recieved as you intended but as "Note to burglars: This house also has guns for the taking in addition to the usual stuff." Your house will be the first focus of any thief.

Funny. The only ones I know of in A.A. who put those bumper stickers on are the ones who have the least chance of having taken a drink. They are the fervent ones who are grateful that A.A. saved their lives.

They probably smile wide when that officer pulls them over. :D
