Akpastor, are you actually a pastor? If so you might be my hero of the week this week lol.

All G26 lovers, you've inspired me to give it another chance. Perhaps my noob hands didn't like it because of the heavy trigger. But I understand now why that's preferable in a gun with no safety lol. Also it is the only sub C I've shot so maybe I gave it unfair Critisism for being too "snappy"

CZ 75D PCR
* conceals fine with a good belt and a supertuck
* proven and tested design
* more than combat accurate
* 14 rounds of 124gr +P goodness
* I shoot it well
* DA/SA - no manual safety, my preferred configuration
* with the kadet kit, I can practice as much as I want

If you like the 75B you should consider the CZ 75 Compact (all steel) or PCR (compact/polymer), or P01(similar to PCR but with a rail). If you think those are too big, check the RAMI series.

I don't know how much shooting you have done, but since this is your first gun, I'm going to guess that it is not a lot. If you decide to buy a 75 and a separate gun for carry, they should be as similar as possible in their configuration and operation. Even if they are not both CZ, there are various guns that come in full size, compact, and sub compact that will operate the same.

I'd actually suggest getting one of the compact versions instead of the 75 and adding a kadet kit. If you want a full size CZ later, the kadet kit will fit it too.

post #2 hit the bullseye

Does it point naturally? Is point of impact and point of aim the same at the defensive distance? Does it go BANG every time?

That may be a Glock or a CZ or a 1911 or a SP101 revolver or S&W 686. It all depends upon the individual and what works every time for them.

My wife hates my Paraord P13, but she's perfect with her RAMI. My buddy likes 1911s, but he's spot on with his 3rd gen Glocks. Fit the gun properly and buy the best you can afford and you'll start off on the right foot.

Exactly. My wife went through 4 revolvers and 4 autos before she discovered her perfect CCW is her CZ 2075 RAMI. I don't like the RAMI for carry meself, doesn't fit me nearly as well as my CZ P01, which fits me like a custom made glove. As the old saying goes, your mileage may vary.

First reply and post 28 are how I feel too.

I went from a primarily G26, to a G19 and now a full size Glock. For me I just find no advantage concealing a tiny Glock. I conceal a full size very well and they shoot better for me.

I have found myself carrying the XD9 more and more though. Not because I think or feel its better than the Glock. It just carries real easy and weighs about the same and shoots like a lazer in my hands. What better reason...

S&W 4586 for me. It weighs less than a snubbie 686 but holds 8+1 45 ACP's and is much thinner with nothing on it to snag. No safeties or de-cock levers to fool with, just point and pull trigger. Goes bang every time and hits what you point it at. Can't ask for much more than that.

My CCW adventures started in the early 60's. I carried, when I did carry, a 4" model 10 S&W.

Went in the Corps then my rifle, 1911A1 and I always carried a "Bodyguard"model 38 S&W. Carried one in Vietnam for two tours, and left it there with someone that needed it a lot more than I did.

Got a Charter arms snubby for about 6 months traded it in and got another model 38 S&W. I carried most of the time now, and if not, it was in the Car.

In 1971 I got a Ruger Security six and relegated the S&W model 38 (and swapped up to model 49, 649, then 638, now 642) as my BUG. Use that Ruger for a lot of years, good gun. Then I got a 3" model 66 S&W as my primary CCW. The Ruger was borrowed for about 7 years by a friend who was working as a Reserve Deputy Mohave county Sheriff here in Arizona. Go it back, and swapped it. Big mistake. Still carrying the "Bodyguard" Du jour as BUG.

Started playing with bottom feeders, specifically Glocks in the late 80's. Unreliable magazines. Went to work for a Florida County Sheriff ( I am from Florida originally and had been back home) They were using SIG 226's, West German of course, and got my own. Proceeded to get hooked on the SIG 228. Still have a real soft spot for that sweet heart. Carried very well for CCW too. After this stint in with Law Enforcement, I carried 100% of the time, when legal, and had my first CCW license too.

When my arthritis first showed up I had to stop shooting Bullseye/2700 & PPC. Started shooting "Active" shooting Steel, IDPA, USPSA, Pins etc.... (You can use two hands to shoot most of the time). I was working for Florida Dept of Corrections and on the Prison shooting team when the arthritis kicked in. I had been shooting my sweet model 14 S&W when in a fit of rage sold it. Not the dumbest thing I ever did, but real close.

Lurch forward to the mid 2000's. My arthritis starts to effect my trigger finger. So I go back to the trigger that requires the least movement, 1911's. Not quite a year ago the arthritis is now effecting my strong hand (right) thumb too. So I am not as reliable on the safety as I once was. Gripping the gun is not as reliable as it once was. if you grab a 1911 correctly you cannot fail to turn the gun on via the safety. My grip was getting weaker.

So I tried Glocks again. Hate the trigger, and it still doesn't quite fit me right. Found the new HK's and absolutely love the P30 and HK 45's with the LEM triggers.

I am playing a little with the S&W M&P seems okay, trigger sucks, but much better in the M&P 9 Pro I have.

So that is all a long winded rant as to what I am doing right now. For competition I shoot different guns. Right now it's the M&P Pro model.

For CCW it's the HK P30 LEM. I do like their HK45 & HK45c both with the LEM trigger too.

That it is my way. I hope your choices are dictated by fit and finish more than Health record books.

In the end I will probably wind up back with my 1911's, and just suffer the safety as necessary. I have been in combat with the 1911 and a model 10 S&W, both while in Vietnam. Oh, and I still carry a S&W "J" frame but recently about 12 years ago switched to the Centennial 642 from the Bodyguard family for BUG duty.

So in the end, like so many others, I will probably wind up back with the big ole' Colt. Still the easiest to shoot well.

Go figure.

Fred

If you think that the Glock had a heavy trigger then you're gonna hate shooting a revolver double-action.
And you'll probably hate DA/SA pistols as well.

Most revolvers have a double-action trigger well over 10 lbs.
And most DA/SA pistols have that first DA shot at around 10 lbs as well.

The Glock has a stock 5.5 lbs trigger, consistent from the first shot to the last shot.

IDK ... perhaps there was something wrong with the Glock I was firing at the range... DA trigger felt way heavier than the S&W .38, Beretta M92, and Springfield XD... Again maybe it was just the compact size throwing me off.

Huh? Heavy? Have you changed the parts out?

My SIG does not have a trigger; it's an index finger exercising machine.

Also it is the only sub C I've shot so maybe I gave it unfair Critisism for being too "snappy"

Snappy? Are you crazy? It has the least felt recoil of the series!

It sounds like someone has some work to do.

Just saw that you had a rental gun. They very well could have changed out some parts (or it was just full of crud). Never mind.

Smith & Wesson M&P40 compact. Eleven rounds of .40 fully loaded, fits my hand well, and small/light enough for most occasions. If I need to be more discreet, Kel-Tec PF-9.

Since it was a range rental there's no telling what had been done to it, or if it is damaged in some way, or whatever...

But trust me, the stock Glock trigger is one of the lightest DAO (for lack of a better term) triggers you're likely to find.
In fact, since it doesn't have a manual safety, some folks here even think that the Glock trigger is too light.

If you like the CZ 75, then you should consider the CZ Rami for CCW to keep the same manual of arms.

This is great advice. I seen one next to a PT709 slim and the CZ was for all intents the same exact size. That gun would make a great carry piece..

I've tried a few, and I'm still looking for the "perfect" CCW. Right now it is either an SP101 or an LCP. Both have their place. The SP101 gets carried more, because .380 is sort of a last resort in my mind. Still, easy of carrying is important to me.

I think the next gun I want to try will be a Colt New Agent. It'll probably be next year before I commit the funds toward one, though. So the two Rugers will have to do for now.

I'm also somewhat interested in the G26 or CZ Rami as CCW options down the road...

Well it appears that something was amiss with the glock in question, perhaps I can find one in better condition to test. I also am liking the rami (especially if i love this CZ as much as I expect to) and kel-tek pf9. We'll see what happens!!

I prefer a full sized 1911 when ever possible, Summer isn't that time.
My issue is generally weight since mine is all steel, And shorts don't stay up well with a 1911 attached.

For that ive found the SA XD SC .40 an amazing carry gun. Small and powerfull, Just how i like it.
I wished it was a bit thinner as there is no reason it couldn't be.

Yep - really a pastor. I carry daily. I live without any illusion as to safety provided by police. Our village has none and the closest state trooper is often an hour or more away. Folks in the church know and are fine with it and several of them carry regularly.

The elders of the church shoot together regularly and are planning a retreat to take some additional shooting classes together.

You thought the G26 was too snappy? what ammo were you using, +P+?? Anyway, I like the G26 but the M&P 9C feels a lot better in my hand. It doesn't have that "brick" feel to it. Also the M&P weights just a little more which would reduce the felt recoil.

Actually, it was +p! I didn't even think of the ammo. It was Winchester "Ranger" +p ammunition.
