If I could only pick one 9mm, it would be a BHP-- that being said, I own only one 9mm pistol now, and it happens to be a PT111 Millennium (not pro) Academy gen 1/3 hybrid-- was $279 when I bought it, and it shoot pretty good for what I bought it for...

+1 on the BHP, but the Glock 19 would be a great second choice. The two are almost polar opposites.

double dittos on griz22's comment. If restricted to only one handgun, the choice would definitely be a 4" .357 mag. revolver. Power and versatility no 9mm can match.

Sigsteve: "What would posses anyone to get a revolver and only have it in a 9mm?!! You only have 6 shots verses at least 10 or more in a good semi "

1) Versatility, if you're a handloader. The 9mm can be loaded up or down for best accuracy without concern about whether the gun will function.
2) No need to chase after your brass (handloader issue again)
3) Unquestioned reliability
4) Better accuracy (if you're lucky)

Luv my Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible (I got lucky :D).

Like a lot of others have already said. The answer to this question is easily the CZ-75.

S&W 639

Edited to add:
A true 639; not some alloy-framed pos 39xx
If I can't have that; then a M43 Firestar
OK, so I already have both; just listing them in preference order.

No double-stacks, no plastic frames, no alloy frames, no striker-fireds or DAOs
