Here's something we ALL dream about! You've won a BIG lottery. You've paid of the mortgage on the ranch, paid off all the credit cards, set up a comfortable retirement plan for you and your spouse, established trust funds to cover your kids' educational needs, etc., etc..

NOW YOU DISCOVER that with all that out of the way you've got $1,000,000 of unencumbered, disposable cash you can freely spend on guns!!! WOW!!!

HOW WOULD YOU "INVEST" THAT MILLION SMACKERS ON GUNS? What guns would YOU buy?

YES! There's a place for ALL God's creatures: right next to the potatoes and gravy.

Gee, a million bucks would lead to some supressed full auto fun, but I don't know enough about the subject to really pick out a specific one. Maybe an MP-5 and a skid-load of 9MM. Mmmmmaybe gold plated.

For Starters:

Four at least of the following:

-Gov't Model of 1911
-Combat Commander 1911

-J frames - (model 36/37) exposed hammers
-Model 36 with 3" bbl.
-Model 442

-SX1
-SX2
-Model 97
-Model 37
-Citori 3 bbl set
-Citori...I gotta long list here...:p
H&R single shot shotgun in all 4 gauges
-Oh hell - I got a long shotgun list period...:D

Just a partial list for starters. Prefer OLDer used ones back when craftsmanship and metallurgy was better.

Oh I want about 400 USGI/ Colt 7 rd mags...or the Metalform equiv.

Reloaders out the wazoo and components...
My own backyard set up to shoot what I want...and hunt....and quail...gotta have quail.

Yeah I even have some wants and wishes on some stuff that folks would not expect from me. Some not even wood, some considered black and evil.

Then just take off and take training with all this stuff...go hunting, meet folks, and...still I gotta assist some kids, ladies, new shooters and spoil some dogs...

Invest some monies in Preserving Freedoms...

One of these days, I want to go shoot doves down "south" until I melt the dang barrel, and the pile is taller than I am.

:D

oh boy, my wet dream come true :neener:

Lets see....

Glock 19, 20, 21, 34, 35
A Para-Ordnance single stack with some custom sights and major trigger job.
Beretta Extrema2 12 gauge
Barret M82 50 cal rifle
Arsenal or Vepr AK with a lot of custom work
(make it as accurate as possible)
S&W 500 mag 8" and a S&W 460 mag 8"
S&W 686 4"
DPMS AR style rifle in 308 cal with a bad ass scope
Remington 700 in 308 with a bad ass scope
Kahr 9mm pocket gun
CZ 75 B SA 9mm
Bushmaster Ar-15 with a 24" barrel and a bad ass scope for varmints
Springfield XD-45 ACP
a really accurate reliable 22lr Rifle
(dont know of a brand or model off the top of my head)
Bushmaster Carbon AR with a 11.5 barrel and a can on it with a Trijicon
a good quality 22lr pistol with a can

almost forgot, a pile of high end reloading presses for all the calibers above.

With my lotto winnings? I think it'd be worth buying some good lawyering and try to make the local gummit boys follow the law. Now that's my idea of a good time!

Oh, I forgot to answer the question. Bad me. I'd buy some guns for fun, but not as an investment. I'd sure like an M14 or two, just for shooting and learning riflery.

a few 1911's, XD's, maybe a few other dodads and some rifles and I'd be a happy camper.

The rest I'd save for ammo :neener:

While I would definetly buy some new (or used) guns, I would most likely buy myself an insanely fast car like a Ferrari, or a Lambourghini and drive around America at a high rate of speed. And hire a couple of lawyers to follow me around getting me out of jail.:D

HANDGUNS:

Glock 17,19, 21, 29, 30 all to be tricked out as I see fit. The 17 would probably get a threaded barrel with a surpressor and those special spring cups. The 19 would be my CCW, the 29 or 30 would stay in the truck and the rest would just be for fun. I'd also turn my 20 into a 20L and it would be my primary defensive handgun.
SA Operator just cause I do feel totally unAmerican without a 1911

Whatever else caught my eye, probably including at least one example from SIG and CZ.

RIFLES:

Arsenal Inc milled 7.62x39 and a stamped 5.45x39.
I'd track down a full-auto and turn it into a custom Krink with a surpressor
I'd get at least one of each of the big 3 MBRs--probably a PTR-91, DS Arms FAL, and a Fulton Armory M14 in whatever configuration seemed to strike me as most suited to the design at the time.

I'd also either build a .338 Lapua on a Montana M1999 action or buy an R-93 Tactical. Put a Nightforce on it...yeah.

SHOTGUNS:
I'd get a couple 870s and fit each with a Knoxx. One would get the necessary paperwork for a short barreled shotgun as it would sport a 14 inch barrel and be fondly known as "The B****" stored under the truck seat. It along with the Glock and the SKS ought to make my truck pretty secure. The other would have an 18 inch barrel with a Surefire and would post up next to my bed with my Rommie AK and the Glock 20.

Then for fun I might try track down a PKM or some other belt fed machine gun. And all my family and friends would be rewarded. But for the most part, once I have the above accessorized and configured to my liking, I would buy a butt load of ammo and reloading components...a butt load.

To heck with guns, I'd be investing and quitting my job. Maybe get one or two to play with, but I'd want a house, some land, etc etc. I love my guns, but I have priorities.

First I would donate money to every pro gun organization that I can think of and then I would build a secure gun room/vault and a range. Then I would start buying guns. As far as the guns go I wouldn't know where to start, but I would be buying a lot of them.

modifiedbrowning's idea is killer: I'd love to donate enough money to charity and pro-gun causes to assuage my conscience, then spend the rest on ammo. A million dollars means you can basically shoot as much as you want at whatever range you like. I'd get several cases of "the good stuff" (Hornady OTM 69 gr. .223, 124 gr. Speer GD HPs, nice Winnie target trap/skeet loads, etc.).

I don't think guns are much of an investment, but since you said it: LOL

a whole bunch of Class III firearms...for the used category...

Colt Python
Colt 1911s

HK Mark 23

and about three dozen HK P7's, M8s, M13s, etc...

And well, whatever else I find...

I voted other because this was always what I intended to do if this lottery thing happened.

Rent a big U Haul it truck the day of the biggest gun show around.

Take my four close friends to the show and tell them that anything that they can get out to that truck or order (class III) before the close of the show is theirs.:D

BTW, the daughter of one of my friends hit the lottery for 32 million.:)

I only need about 10 more to have my collection close full circle. Must I write off what remains of the $1 million as a loss, or may I spend it towards extra parts, accessories, ammunition, security?

If I have to go the other way, I will purchase 150 Barrett M82A1s. This should just about kill a million bucks.

I'd add a few more 1911s to the fold along with a few collectables. Mostly, I'd spend the dough building myself a fully equipped indoor gun range complete with ventilation and a shredded rubber backstops, lighting and all the works. That way I could shoot my guns any time I want in privacy. Then I'd invest in some remote land for longer range rifle shooting and shotgun shooting.

Ooooohhhhhh, yeah...

Mixture of long guns & handguns: 75.93%

For the first time in my life,
I voted with the largest majority!

Definitely a P7M8/13, a few 1911s, any MP5 with a burst group, a nice long range large caliber rifle, and a couple shotguns...then invest 95% of what's left, buy ammo with the rest, and shoot till I can't stop smiling...damn that would be nice...

At least one of each of the following:

-Delisle carbine
-One of every model Barrett .50
-One of every John Moses Browning patent design (would a million dollars be enough?)

I voted for others. I wanna open my own gun shop. Is $1 million enough ? kekeke :D I can own guns and ammo at dealer price , plus I get to learn about guns and ammo stuff everyday from handgun , rifles to shotguns and ammo. :)

Well, I would definitely have a few "full house" custom rifles made on Mauser actions with awesome dark and figured walnut (at least one in .30-06, one in .35 Whelen, one in .375 H&H, and one in .416 Rigby, the last two being express style), but mostly it would be "used" classics. There would definitely be a few Griffin Howe custom Mausers and 70s made in the '40s and '50s to tide me over till my customs are finished, and a few really nice old side by side shotguns made by such American makers as Parker, Lafaver, L.C. Smith etc., maybe an original Peacemaker or two, nicely done up way back when. Definitely a bunch of pre-war Winchester rifles of various models to include 1894s, '86s, 71's, 63s, 70s, 73s, 92s, etc., some done fancy and some done plain.
