Yeah, step one is definitely "buy a house that can support a 50-yd six-position pistol range (with a backstop that can take anything) and gun vault in the basement".

Step two is buying the guns. Widebody .45 Super, Para 16-40 modded for 10mm, a pair each of "perfect" .45ACP wadcutter and hardball pistols, a spread of .22 bullseye pistols, and a wide selection of 1911s and Glocks. The long guns are a bit more vague in my head, but definitely a Thompson submachine gun, and whatever rifles and shotguns suitable for getting into all the local shooting activities. Any guns that I decide I don't like enough to shoot in the next 12 months get donated to be local door- or competition-prizes.

Step three is taking any money remaining (questionable after step one) and contributing to RKBA organizations and local shooting clubs. In fact the local range could definitely use a major upgrade to the indoor range and they've been talking about it for years, so it'd be time to put the money where their mouths are. :)

A mixture of Long guns & handguns. I'd save the majority of money & buy a small island so I could have my own little country.:) We'd eat what we catch, cut wood for heat, plant trees for fruit. Sounds good to me. I'd allow silencers & machine guns for the general public. For entertainment we'd hunt wild boar, play darts & just sit on the beach. For national defense, we'd all be members of my little militia so we could defeat pirate invaders & such. We'd have no currency so we'd bargain with each other*. Our legal system would consist of the following rules & maybe a few others:

1. No thieving. I can't stand a thief.
2. No cheating. See above.
3. No lawsuits. If you have a complaint with another fellow, you duel.
4. Common sense is useable in court.
5. There will be no jails where crooks sit while being fed at public cost. The crooks will make reparitions to the victim 5 fold.
6. I reserve the right to exile anyone I choose.

This sounds like a good deal to me.

Mine is simple, I would buy a gun store. LOL My favorite shop closed due to deaths in the family. I miss the shop and they did very very well even with a large retail giant in town. I would bring it back from the ashes with the original staff and ran the same way it has been run for 50 plus years, friendly hang out first, gunstore second.

A few USGI 1911A1
a couple of S&W K frame
and at least one N frame (mod 58)
Maybe another shotgun and a Mini Mauser built 6.5 grendel
A few Marlins and a winchester or 2
Not many just a 1/2 a Million worth

The other half is ammo

First, buy a big enough chunk of land to allow for at least a 200m rifle range, someplace like Idaho or Montana. Then put a house with a basement vault on it.

Then get started with the Class III stuff, at least one of which would be belt fed, preferably an M240 or an MG3/MG42. Or even a PKM.

And, as previously mentioned, pallets of ammo.

Buy a new safe.... in a new house... start the papaerwork on a BAR... build up a custom .375 for dangerous game, collect some old Colts.

When does my first check get here?

Decisions, decisons, decisions...

I'll go for a pratical mix of long & short then fulfill my fantasy.

Ma Deuce !

Plus someplace really nice to shoot it. Kinda like the Island idea. :D

I'm drawn too much to the "shiney pebble" syndrome (short attention span). Also, love trying to get a deal.

Therefore, I would buy a bit of everything. Long/short/new/used. I don't tend to stay with one thing much.

However, rifles do take up more storage space which is sometimes an issue.

Oh, wow!

Gosh, I'd probably run outta the million before I got finished. I'd mainly just get a bunch of stuff I've always wanted but either couldn't afford, or couldn't justify - - -

At least one belt fed machine gun - - Probably a 1917 Browning or a Maxim. Well, maybe a .50 M2 as well.

Couple of the classic SMGs - - Sten, M3 or M3A1, Stirling, MP40, PPSh. Oh, yeah, some automatic rifles/LMGs as well: BAR, Bren, Lewis, tht sorta thing.

A classic double rifle. I'd have to get some advice from H&H Hunter. Something I could load for and shoot without needing to turn my own brass. A .470 or a .450 probably.

Several of the classic bolt guns - - A Sedgley Springfield, a G&H, a Holland & Holland, a Manlicher-Sch-? carbine, a prewar Model 70.

A modest assortment of pre-WWII Colt and S&W handguns - - Mostly revolvers, some autos.

Single actions: One pre-1900 Colt SAA in nice shape, a pair of late model SAA shooters.

Then I'd see how much was left of the million . . . . ;)

Best,
Johnny

I'm in the "mix...new/used" and I'll add "of all types" I have a list of sorts. It's not fully nailed down to specifics...but even if it was, it would change before I got to the end. :D Sure would be fun!
Mark.

first i would get the guns i have always wanted (m-1a, fal, hk91, ak-47, some sniper rifle) then i would just get a SAW

Way too many to list here. This would require decades of ongoing research and acquisition. There would be plenty of full auto and suppressed firearms. Collections based on various time periods / countries / wars, etc...... The end result would probably result in the opening of a firearms museum.

I'd be a very well-armed fellow in no time.

Then I'd buy some property out in Montana for shooting, have a range built on it.

Step 1: Move out of New York

Step 2: Move into Pennsylvania or New Hampshire

Step 3: Go into full "gun whore" mode and buy enough guns and ammo to cause a temporal distortion that will blow the ATF and the Brady group into the next dimension.

I have this dream everyday of my life !!!!!
I will wait till it happens because my list changes to fast

Every single model of Colt double action revolver produced, and each variation of each model.

(I think that's about it for the million bucks)

I think I'd put the million into some kind of steady savings-account type thing, where half of the interest would come out for me to play with, and the other half would built the "gun account" some more, and I think the sweetest thing ever would be to use the money to build up "starter packs" for new-shooter friends, like a solid .22, maybe a .410 or similar "starter" shotgun, or a handi-rifle type interchangeable barrel gun, and a few jillion rounds of ammunition, so I can take people to the range, teach them the basics and the mindset and give them all the information I can to engender a joy in shooting, and at the end of the day say, "Here, this is yours." (within the law, of course).

I'd use my lottery winnings to promote World Peace, harmony, and ask everyone to love each other.....

And with the $999,999 left over, I'm gonna get me some THOMPSONS!

I'm gonna walk into my Friendly Local Gun Shop and have them take a CZ P-01 out of the case, and after I look at it, I'll say "this is the one I don't want. I'll take everything else."

Because I already have a P-01.
