I just noticed what day it is... Or was...

And scrolled a little.

Am I the one to have noticed?

Usually there's at least one or two members who query "what gun for...?" But not this year.

Sigh. Yet another tradition...

Well, I just got back home from buying mouse traps. I saw a mouse last night. We went to three stores before finding any.

On the way to the third store, I told Jenn that if all else fails I could run and get some Rat Shot for my 10/22. She, in no uncertain terms, let me know what the REST of the box would be used on if I shot a .22 rimfire in our house. :)

So....

What caliber for shooting mice INSIDE your home?

Dang, Bogie! It was a GREAT day. The sun came out, it wasn't raining/sleeting/snowing, the wind wasn't howling, it got up into the 40s, and I was able to get out of bed! ;)

Lucky buggar.

30 deg here, w/70MPH wind, and we have an incoming snow storm that looks like it may end up being a blizzard.

Oh, & What Cal for Snowmen? :D

Okay, who here has actually eaten ground hog? With dumplings?

(Raising hand.....)

Hey, what can I say, I grew up in Arkansas. :D

BTW, we used .22's on 'em. Doesn't mess up the meat. ;)

I think .44 magnum is the only way to go with house mice. In all serious the old fashioned wood traps are the only ones that work.

Groundhog day should be a national holiday. Everyone should get a day off of work for it.

No, this opinion has nothing to do with the fact that today is my Birthday. :neener:

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

When I was in college I lived at home. One evening I came home and my mom was sitting on the couch with her feet tucked underneath her reading a book. I sat down next to her in view of the kitchen. All of a sudden her eyes got big and she said "There it is again!" then proceeded to tuck her feet even tighter.

I guess at first she thought that she was seeing things but while I was sitting there we both saw the mouse run across the floor underneath a desk in the corner. Next to the desk was a bowl of dog food and the mouse was stealing it and hiding it in the cupboard.

I got my Crossman BB gun from my room and gave it a couple pumps. First shot dropped it deader than a door nail. :D

A BB gun is sufficient in my experience.

Shotgun with Rock Salt! Not a bad idea at all, that way the groundhog is already salted when you skin it for the frying pan!

I figure any day my eyeballs are 5'8" above the ground is a good day.

With all this "Global Warming", you don't need a caliber for groundhog, just a snowblower

For Mice: When I was a younger man I lived in Forest Service housing. The places sat empty across the winter and literally filled up with mice. When we moved in at the first of the season we would put some peanut butter on a plate in the middle of the floor and move back and wait. .177 daiseys with 2 pumps worked well.
