Well, since I read THR, I know to own multiple copies of the same weapon. Thus, I walk down the stairs, turn left into my armoury, open the safe and pull out a new pistol. Load and make ready.
Do you mean, if my current piece suddenly disapeared as thru theft or accident? (In which case, I'd pull my old one out of retirement until I could acquire a new one.)
Or do you mean, as if the entire type disappeared? Just the Colt Commander, or ALL mid-sized lightweight 1911s? If the former, then probably the equivalent Kimber. If the latter, I'd probably suffer some severe psychological damage and thereby be unfit to carry a pistol.
Seriously, though - - I'd weather the readjustment - - Human beings are adaptable. And the guns are just tools, right? I'd carry a full size 1911 while I located to find a 3" Cobra, or, failing that, a 3" Detective Special or even a 3" model 65. I'd get an action job, a good holster, and go on about my life.
Lemme see, I`d open the safe, go eeny meeny and pull one out. One must be fashionable as well as flexible you know.Lemme see, I`d open the safe, go eeny meeny and pull one out. One must be fashionable as well as flexible you know.
I have two primary carry guns, a G19 and a PM9. If one of them died for some reason, I have a second G19 and a second PM9. Plus a G26. Sort of boring in one sense, but does mean fewer calibers to stock. Plus they use each other's mags and holsters.
I have three guns I call my primary carry guns. P7M8, M60 .357 snubby, SIG P239.
I also own a P225, P229, Walther P99...........basically almost every handgun I own is a perfectly viable gun for CCW. The top three choices are simply my easiest to grab throw on or throw in a pocket.
Now if my P7M8 were erased after my period of mourning I would use one of the other to kill the SOB who erased my beloved P7.
Any of my handguns would do in a pinch even the new 3 inch GP100 with the smaller grips has surprised me at how comfy and totable it is.
I have a main carry gun, a small carry gun, another main carry gun that lives in a bank box just in case things hit the fan, and a model 1911 I could carry, albeit not entirely comfortably. They told me in the Boy Scouts to be prepared.
