Your Favorite .22

Still looking.....
Ive had/have some nice ones.
My favorite autoloader to date is the 597, but my buddy wanted my heavy barrel, and his daughter fell in love with the pink one, so now I have none.

My favorite bolt gun to date is my 457, with a Lothar heavy barrel....but I just paid for but have not picked up a Christensen ranger....will see if that one appeals more....

Id also like to get a Cooper or Ani, and see if one of THOSE are my favorites.....but I cant afford THAT experiment right now.

One thing I learned along the way, is never make a bet against the accuracy of an Xt-22 or Mark 2....actually any of the marlin or savage rimfires can often be fantastically accurate.

The only .22 that I own; a Kimber 82 Yonkers “Custom Classic” that is just a gorgeous rifle and ultra accurate with just about any brand of ammo. The wood on this rifle is exceptional - fit/ finish is exceptional - it is a keeper.

Shoots one ragged hole, Italian made Weatherby Mark XXII

I love all of my rimfire rifles and can't choose just one as my favorite. Each one has a specific purpose for me. For precision work, I love my Savage MkII BTVLSS. I also love my AR22 rifle for quick and accurate shooting. I also love my Marlin Model 99M1 that has the original rear sight still. And the big surprise in accuracy and fun is my old Romanian Model 69 training rifle, it is crudely built and rough as a cob but is shoots well. And last what's not to like about my Kel-Tec CMR30, light 22WMR with 30 round magazines.

I'm the same way with my rimfire handguns too. Each has its place and purpose. For fun shooting, I love my H&R Model 949. For training purposes, it's hard to beat my Glock G44 and Taurus 942. For more accurate shooting; I have my Ruger MkII, S&W 22A, and my Kel-Tec CP33. The CP33 and S&W 22A are more accurate than my Ruger. Out of all my 22lr handguns, I find myself shooting the Glock G44 and Kel-Tec CP33 the most. For 22WMR, I love the Kel-Tec PRM30 especially since it pairs with the CMR30 and uses the same magazines.

Savage Mark II BTVSS thumbhole for .22, RPR in 22WMR for magnum, Beretta Neos with reflex for pistol, but I do like my old H&R 922 and 929 revolvers also, and I just got a Heritage with the Betsy Ross grips and both cylinders, there are others in the safe as well, oh wait, sorry, you said favorite, ummmmm, I guess it would be the Savage, it is more accurate than I am even when I am having a good day.

I have some I use a lot but not particularly enduring to me. Had a friend over Wednesday and we shot the two 510’s I keep in the shop for a couple hours after fiddling with a CZ 455 and a 540x for just a few minutes.

I suppose for looking at, my mark XXII would be up there, sentimental would be my Fathers SA22 and the one he gave me when I was 11. One I would really hate to see go would be the Walther sport model V, that my Grandmother kept in the kitchen, it’s known by most as the “cheater gun”.

Every one that I currently own is a favorite for something.

Right now these would include my Glenfield M25 (my first firearm), three differently-configured 10-22s, S&W M&P 15-22, Henry Mini-bolt in an Accu-bolt stock, Winchester 69A with Lyman target sight, H&R Sportster, Uberti .22 Virginian single action and rimfire conversions for my Glock 19 (Advantange Arms) and 1911 (Ciener). If we're also counting .223, add my CZ527 fullstock, Troy PAR and another H&R single shot. The CZ is about the best looking of the lot, but they are all special to me.

I have a H&R 760 I traded a box of 7.62x39 for. When I got it, it would not fire. I noticed the safety lever was loose so I took it apart and removed the safety (I know, but I don’t care) and now she shoots great.

It’s not pretty, it has a piece of a match stick under the rear sight for adjustment, no safety, and it’s a tiny gun compared to me but for some reason I absolutely love it.

Since this is the rifle sub-forum I must mention my Mossberg 46B from the late 1940's. It is simply astoundingly accurate. And now with its new variable scope it's even better. It was made a year after I was born, and has never failed (except for the crappy bakelite trigger guard, which I replaced with one I made).

I sold my mossberg 340BB to a neighbors son, he was enamored with it and I hadn't shot it in years, sold it for $150, which is fair, but, mostly because he was a fan of the old wood rifles, and I didn't shoot it anymore.

I asked my boys first if any of them wanted it, but, they would rather have the "black rifles"
