I'm looking for one that's

1. Accurate
2. Cool looking
3. Heavy barreled, 22" or less

But really, I'll take any and all recommendations.

Also!!!!
Are there any AR-10 .308's for about $1500 that are reeeeally accurate or is that asking too much for an auto in that price range? That's my favorite SHTF weapon and if I can get one of those that's as accurate as a bolt action I'll spend more on it for sure

no personal experiance so take this for what its worth... Dpms Lr-308 might be what you are lookin for in an auto. In a bolt maybe kimber, sako, what other high end bolts one might think of!

Check out the FN-Patrol rifles offered by CDNN for $700. I'm not saying they are the best choice, but I like mine. I just wanted to be different from everybody else who buys Remington and Savage.

I have the Kimber 84 in 308 as well. Wonderful rifle, but not a heavy barrel and not under $1,000

A Kimber LPT in .308 Win will run you $1,400 to $1,500 and you will have a 1-year back-order for it. It also has a medium-heavy, 24" barrel. Although, they are blistering accurate.

The only one I can think of that fits the OP's criteria is the M700 Tactical.

Is that FN Herstal the same stock as the Remington 700 tactical? I was looking at that but I heard that the stock isn't great. Guess that's why you spend $1500 on a rifle sometimes though right

My FN has the Hogue with full aluminum bedding block. I think this is the same stock Remington is using. I personally don't care for the Hogue stock. They are too thick, bulky and heavy for my tastes. But mine is accurate in it.

Does that mean that the Hogue stock comes WITHOUT the bedding block also???
I read a review of the 700 tactical that said that he had issues with the point of impact, although the groups were sub MOA generally. Does the bedding block help with variations caused by pressure (grip, bipod, bags, general techniques?)

How about a T/C Icon Precision Hunter for $1,018.02?

Many nice features .... and you probably won't see too many of them around. They come with a 22" fluted heavy barrel.

FN PBR...18.5" Heavy barrel with break. Currently wearing a SWFA SS 3X9X42. I am using this gun to teach me to shoot with glass. Learning the whole MRAD thing.

I love my Remington 700 SPS Tactical. You can get into one of them, without scope, for about $600, maybe less. Mine was sub-MOA right out of the box. After lightening the trigger a bit (these have the new trigger that adjusts with an Allen wrench without removing the action from the stock) I was shooting 0.6" 5-shot groups at 100 yards with Hornady 168-grain TAP ammo. I think the rifle will do even better with more trigger time. Great gun!
