So everyone,What is your favorite style of action on your rifle regardless of caliber. Flint locks? falling blocks? Bolt guns? Semi/Full auto loaders? Personaly I am into the lever action rifles lately. I have a Marlin in 30/30,and a couple of .22's a henry and a Savage/Stevens Favorite and I enjoy them the most out of all of them. There is just something Cool about the look and feel of a lever gun. well thats my.02$ what does everyone else here think?

For centerfire 1 bolt
2 lever
3 single shot.
Have no desire to have a semi auto or pump in centerfire.

Rimfire. 1 bolt
2 semi
3 lever
4 and 5 interchangeable single shot and pump.
This just is my opinion and fits my needs best. Whatever you want to use is best for you. My wifes favorites are different.

She would be centerfire
1 lever
2 bolt.

Rimfire
1 lever
2 semi
3 pump
4 bolt

My preference is for bolt rifles, though I do like levers, too.

I started shooting in High Power rifle competition, though, and have to grudgingly admit that my A2 AR15 is the right tool for the job.

Muzzleloaders: flintlock

Breechloaders: single shot. This sorta includes my mil-surp bolt actions since I only load them one at a time. Simpler mechanisms and easier to clean and maintain. Don't hunt anymore so I don't need a quick follow up capability.

I like them all for different reasons. I like levers for their look, feel and nostalgia. I like bolts for their accuracy, strength and utility. I like semi autos for their firepower and recoil reduction. and finally I like pumps because growing up with pump shotguns they feel very natural to me as well as being very fast. Oh yeah, I have some flintlocks, falling blocks and rolling blocks, too. I like variety.

Never had a falling block, but something in a Ruger #1 is on my bucket list.

I suppose a rolling bolt semiauto is my favorite right now. M1A or Garand.

Madsen LMG (semi-auto falling block). I also have an affinity for the Degtyarov flap lockup, though it makes for a large bolt assembly. My favorite gas actuation system is short stroke tappet piston.

Rotating bolts are for lazy designers :neener:

Favorite is the Swiss straight pull auto-rotation bolt.

Most everything else I own is semi-auto, but I have a turn bolt action and a lever, and pump and break action shotguns. Don't have a falling block but sounds cool.

Favorite action: semi-auto.

Favorite accurate action: bolt action.

Favorite fun action: lever action.

For stalking bolt action.
For driven game semi-automatic.
For hunting large dangerous game at short ranges SxS throwing 400gr to 500gr at 2100+/-100fps from rimmed case.

I'm a bolt gun man. I have muzzle loaders for flintlock competition and hunting muzzle loader season, and a Winchester M94 as a saddle gun. And I recently picked up another saddle gun, a Savage M99 in .308 Winchester.

But I have a dozen bolt actions, from .22 LR to .35 Brown-Whelen.

Fella's;

Well, seeing the way this thread had gone, I've gotta add my own twist.

Center fire, left hand bolt action, and Mauser type if possible. Second place is falling block, as in Ruger #1. Third would be a non-Mauser bolt. There are no other places on this list.

Rimfire: Left hand bolt, ie CZ452, followed by levers and semi's.

There is the rub isn't it? There is just something about the feel of a lever action that is balm to my soul.
I own a few other guns but my levers are the ones I will keep first and always.
the others I might sell.

The two guns I'll starve before I sell are both pumps, a Winchester 62 in .22lr inherited from my grand father, and the Mossberg 500 which was my first gun. I like semi's, but "If you could only have one gun..." I'd let the semi's go long before either of those pumps...
