Just wondering what are some favorites for people to shoot. I've only recently started shooting older milsurps so the only one I've shot is the mosin. I'm keeping my eye out for a nice k31 tho!

M91/30. There's nothing quite like it. With the length, weight, feel, and report of the thing, you feel like you've got a real man's weapon. The price of ammunition and the guns themselves do not hurt.

My Garand, before it was returned to me destroyed, was my favorite, BY FAR. A close second would be the venerable 91/30 Mosin. Probably the cheapest, most powerful, and most accurate gun out there for the money.

My 1891 Argentine Engineers carbine. It handles great, action is liquid smooth, trigger breaks clean, it looks great, feels great and shoots great. All that and it's 116 years old.

My Spanish Mauser 93. Accurate, reliable, very low recoil and a round that (even when loaded for the old metallurgy) is still good enough for any critter in the lower 48 if the hunter is good enough.

M1 Carbine
... what's wrong with all the people with other answers?

The only milsurp rifles I own are the M1 carbine and an SKS ... I've fired a Garand a few times and they're fine guns, and I can admire the Mosin variants, but semiauto plus a light & handy platform that just about any new shooter can handle make for a perfect fun gun.

Swiss K31...beautiful rifle...shoots just as well as she looks...and its just such a smooth feeling/functioning gun.

Due to ammo cost, the Mosin 91 59 carbine is my favorite. That also goes with the brother M 44 and 91 30.

russian made sks, as it is the only milsurp i own. kind of neat with the folding pig sticker on it, but i need to find some stripper clips for it. none for sale in my area.

I have only shot the Enfield, Ishapore 2A essentially an Enfield, the SKS and 03A3
I would have to say I like the 03A3 even if it was "sporterized" but the Enfields of the ones that are not modified.

While I enjoy shooting the 91/30, the No. 4 Mk 1, and the 1916 7x57, the SKS is still my hands down favorite. Ammo is still reasonable, and it is tons of fun to shoot.

Out of the milsurps I've shot, I liked the 1903 Springfield (pre-A1) and the Arisaka 99 the best. Though now that I've acquired a K98k, I think that'll take the top spot simply because I actually own it and will get to shoot it regularly.
