Sorry, I can't nail it down to just one. They all are worthy of my adoration. But, there is something of an old romance to the Garand. I like them all.

I have to say I have two favorites. I trained on the M1 Garand when I came into the Army, and later as an Adviser to Viet Namese Infantry I bummed an M1 from my battalion commander and carried that. The M1 is a GREAT battle rifle.

But the M1903A3 Springfield has a special place in my heart. It's much lighter and trimmer than the M1, and with it's aperture sights it's a joy to shoot. You can take it hunting right out of the box, too.

M1 Garand ... Is there any other?

Dudenal, .... is there another 20th Century battle rifle that's even close?

I have several different ex-military firearms, but there are two that stand out as my current favorites:

First is this 1942 Savage M1928-A1

Second is my 1914 Springfield 1911 that was caught while fishing in 1961. In spite of it's exterior, the interior is in near perfect shape and I still shoot it from time to time.

I collect Mosin Nagants, but I will confess an affinity for the Springfield 03 and 03A3.

But I will have to agree with Happy Trails, the M60. :p

Love my M1 Carbines....M1 Garands are great......1903 A3's come in as Super ...1903 is next....likey my Krag Carbine and finally 1885 issue Trapdoor carbine.
Pistol: 1911a1......1911.....and not US but the spectacular FN (Browning) High Power....great pistols!!

I love the M1 Carbine. It just a fun reliable little carbine and I like the little 30 carbine round.

I'd have to say my M-1 Carbine is the most fun. I enjoyed my Swedish Mausers, shot M-1 Garands in my Army Reserve outfit, like my SKS. But they're all heavier, have more recoil than the little Carbine, and shoot more expensive ammo. Also, easier to introduce and train newbies and kids with the little light shooting gun.

So the Carbine; less filling, more taste.

The Enfield No5 Mk1 "Jungle Carbine."

I have a 1945 BSA Shirley that had it's flash hider bubba'd and I'm looking for a replacement; otherwise, it's in almost perfect condition.

Any of the early pre-SMLE enfields.

I'd love to own a enfield cavalry carbine someday but I don't think any have ever been imported to America...at least I haven't seen one for sale in 8 years of searching.....I have to make do with my royal Irish constabulary carbine , it's fairly similar.

My favorite would be the M1 Garand or carbine. Don't make me choose between them.

But they are not the most accurate. In my safe, accuracy is in this order:
Swede Mauser
Finn M39
Swiss K31 (about the same as the M39, more ammo picky.)
M1903
CZ Mauser
Garand

and more down the list.

Bolt action 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser would be the first to come to mind. Out of the box by far the most accurate and with a little love, a tack driver.
