That Redhawk is AWESOME!My custom 4" Stainless Redhawk in .41magnum that I made from a 5.5" gun. I did all the work myself including, cutting and recrowning the barrel, milling a slot in the top rib and installing a new front sight, trigger work, dehorn the whole gun including rounding the bottom of the grip and matching the grips, and lastly I bead blasted the whole gun. I looked for this gun for over a decade and now Ruger makes a 4" Redhawk. I believe I am the only one in .41magnum so it's very special to me. Any time I am in the woods, it is in a cross chest holster.

Next would be my custom GP-100 in .357magnum. It is a factory DAO with a 3" barrel. Again I performed a trigger job, dehorned and bead blasted it as well. I carry this one concealed on a regular basis.

Very nice shooting Rod and Thank you for the compliment. One of the members of the gun club I belong to shoots the same gun you have. He fell in love with it 25 years ago, and like you is very proficient with it. His favorite targets are the feral hogs that tear up his pastures. As I said, working on mine was a true labor of love. I have been machining steel for many years so that part of the process was easy for me. The first thing I did though was to shoot the gun before starting the work and after cutting and recrowning the barrel. In both cases the gun shot very well so I proceeded to make it what I wanted. The hardest part in the work on my Redhawk was the first cut on the barrel of a $600 gun, after that it was all easy. I knew what I wanted the end result to be and took my time getting it there. All in all, I spent about 6 months working, about 2 hours in the evening several days a week. Since I also handload I have created several loads that really make the gun shoot well.Bigmike45, that's a beautiful job of gunsmithing...well done Senor! While I'm not a big fan of Ruger's Redhawks, that one really tickles my fancy...and in a superb caliber too...well done, I say.
My all-time favorite is a Flat Top, Blued Blackhawk in .44 Special, 4-5/8" bbl. if you please!
The bluing doesn't make sense for back country (read extremes of wx a long way from the chimney smoke), nor do the wood stocks that I favor, and perhaps the short bbl. isn't as useful to some of the brethren for hunting...
But I shoot it well, like its looks and it's heavy weight soaks up the recoil from Skelton level loads in my 75 yo arthritic hands. It'll do to ride the trail with, I'd opine.
Best regards, Rod......Pic of said gun, with 6 shots at 25 yds back when I had better eyes and hands. (I was 63 at the time & sure would like to call that one '10' at 4 o'clock back into the group!) The gun came from Lipsey's first run of .44 Spl BH's and I restocked it with Cocobolo with my own 'gun fighter' grip dimensions.
5" GP 100 in 10mm. Working man's big bore.
thats a nice concept gun. I need to look into these. Also shoots 40s&w right? Guessing it can also handle full power 10mm nuke loads with ease.
