Fun in a rimfire-Ruger MK.II Model 512. Extremely accurate and reliable.

Fun in a centerfire-Colt Combat Commander customized by the Colt Custom Shop.
Extremely accurate and reliable.

My Ruger MKII.
Only because it's the only .22 I have currently, and I have more fun knowing that I'm saving money.

I have the most fun with the 1911s. However, if you mean fun plinking on the cheap, a Walther P22.

^^^Not the prettiest pistol out there, but I bet that is fun. I'm a big fan of the .22 mag.

Yeah, I know. Ugly. But it sort of grows on me. 31 in the gun, 30 more in the extra magazine. Weighs about 20 oz. loaded. In that Yaqui slide, I hardly know I'm carrying it. It gets a lot of belt time.

Lately, a Beretta 92FS with a Teddy Jacobson trigger job and Esmeralda grips. Just a pleasure to shoot, and 9mm has become my fun plinking round. The gun is accurate enough to knock shotshells off a post at 25 yards (when I do my job), and the trigger pull and action are like silk.

I realize this is the auto forum, but to me, autos are practical machines, they can be elegant, impressive, useful, etc., but the most "fun" for me is a S&W 617-1, 6"bbl, six-shot .22 revolver.

I predict, based on my own experience, that if you ask this question a year from now, 50% or more of the answers will be the Ruger SR22P. What a delightful little pistol!

That is a hard one to answer, I like them all, but a buckmark allways seems to show up any time I head out to the hills.

Re: Morgo, "One of these".

Oh yeah, real crowd pleaser and when they hit (whatever you're shooting at) you know it! I favor melons and tomatoes myself.

I just got an SR22 that I've been burning up Federal in, but for PURE FUN, I prefer my Pietta and Ruger and ASM cap and ball revolvers. You just can't get any more fun than thoughs. :D I never seem to tire of black powder. I have a .22 NAA Super companion, .31 Remmy, a Ruger Old ARmy (the best shooter), and brass frame 5" '51 Navy, and a steel frame 5.5" '58 Remington (second best shooter and right handy) so far.

Yeah, the little SR22 and my Mk 2 (Ruger, scoped) and my little Rossi 511 .22 tack driving revolver are good little plinkers, but can't measure up to cap and ball for FUN. :D

My fav

Ruger 22/45 , 6 7/8" government slabsides stainless bull barrel
I put it together from a 22/45 and a competition government model
its my favorite and its more accurate than some .22 rifles

Actually, my Phoenix HP-22A gets the nod for that. It's a cheap and reliable piece that, though still in like-new condition, can be considered a "beater" (much like my 25-year old 4x4 pickup that I don't worry about keeping clean or whatever.) I do have Ruger Mk-II, but it's almost "too easy" to shoot at the range.

Lately it's been my desert eagle in .44 cal. Super fun and accurate makes 2 liters blow up nicely, will be more fun when I get some hogue grips for it. I hear those make a world of difference.

Would have to be my CZ 52. Cheap to shoot, accurate, a blast at the 100 yard steel. Mine has the Harrington trigger and firing pin...much better than the factory trigger pull and Novak Sights. Very low recoil, very flat shooting...

Don't put too many rounds through that thing. I've had all sorts of wear with mine over the years related to round count and the zinc alloy. I just got the SR22 to replace that HP22 as a shooter/pocket .22. Can't get much for that HP22, so I reckon I'll keep it in my collection. Good gun to take in a boat, don't care if I lose it. :D It HAS been reliable when I'd fix this or that worn part. It is amazingly accurate even with the 3" barrel.
