Your "go to gun."

Rifle: Marlin 1895 45/75 guide gun.
Shotgun: Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 ga.
Handgun: Sig X5.
EDC: S&W 38 spc J-frame.

I've been saying for years I'll be buried with my Ruger GP-100, and probably my Glock 17 too. Looks like my Springfield Range Officer is in the running too.

My dad's Ruger Police Service Six would be the one to go to the grave with me, were I to select one.

But, to me, a "go to" gun has a wider definition, and I haven't picked a gun to meet it yet.

The one you have absolute faith in and wish to be buried with.

When I think of my "go to gun" it has to be either my Colt Combat Commander, customized by Colt's Custom Gun Shop, or else my Browning Hi-Power. Both are well built, totally reliable, and very accurate. Oh, and they definitely won't be buried with me. Instead they're both going to my children to use and enjoy and to be passed on to their kids when the time comes.

It's hard to say. I guess it would depend on the day. For work my duty gun is a Glock 22 Gen4. When in Class C uniform (511s and Polo shirt) I carry a Glock 19 RTF.
Off duty I carry a Glock 43 when I want something light. When carrying heave it would be my FNS9 or S&W M&P 45.
I have carried a 1911 over the years and have two that I will never sell, but do not wish to be buried with one.

For general purpose hunting, it's a Dominican Republic Mauser in 7x57 w/ a 20" barrel, Dayton-traister trigger, and a cheap centerpoint scope. I bought it as a donor rifle and made the mistake of shooting it before rebarrelling it. I know that I can grab it and a box of either PPU 139gr factory rounds or 145 gr Speer SPBT handloads and it will do what I need out to about 400 yards. The scope isn't great and gets dim above 10x, but anywhere from 4x to 10x, it works great. No shift in POI when changing magnifications.

But my go-to everyday gun is my CZ-82. Quite accurate, good DA trigger, excellent SA trigger. It's "only" 9x18 Mak, but it will hit where I want it to and has had at least 1500 rounds through it with the only malfunction being when I purposely limp-wristed it to see what would happen. (resulted in a stovepipe) It eats everything I've fed it from Silver|Brown Bear to Tula to PPU to Hornady to handloads. I'll probably pick up a new carry gun this year with a little more "oomph", but I'll probably carry this one often.

Matt

I've got guns for hunting, for CC and for fun but I don't necessarily consider one a "go to". As for being buried with a gun, naw that would be a waste.

If I were limited to one gun I'd choose two ;) my LCP and .45convertible Blackhawk would allow SD and hunting but with a bit of a compromise.

Aside from my everyday carry which obviously is the first thing anyone would grab, my "Go To" is my customized Core15 AR-15 rifle. I do training courses with it and feel comfortable with it and know the reliability of it. Out of building/buying dozens of AR-15's this is one I made "my rifle" if its needed.

20170407_072850.jpg this 12ga 1100 was setting nib in my chair at the breakfast table on the day I graduated from the 8th grade 40yrs ago this spring.
I believe that that it has accounted for every legal game animal in the state of Illinois.
I hunted turkeys with it this morning.

...they don't come with the bluing worn like that, they have to earn it.

Depends on what I'm "going to." Big game, my 1962 Winchester Model 70 in .30-06. Plinking, my Belgian Browning SA .22. Zombie apocalypse, WASR AKM 47. EDC pocket carry, Kahr .380. EDC IWB, CZ PO-1. Competition, STI .40 S&W. Plinking center fire handgun, S&W 15-3 or CZ 75 pre B. The inevitable "if you had only one gun..." would be my S&W 28 with 4" barrel.

Agreed

My GP100 is a keeper too......I shoot the snot out of it and she keeps right on ticking....Pic was taken just after a nice long workout at the range.

I also own a Super Blackhawk Hunter 44 mag that is a close second to the GP100.....The SBHH gets shot plenty too......

These are nothing fancy but are a blast to shoot......and that's the whole point right?....The Rugers hit the range every time I do.

I have a twin to your GP. It is scary with 180gr XTPs and has taken 7 or 8 whitetails.

Sig P938. Shoots everything I feed it and I have never had any issues with it (and don't think I will... it's a sig). Its also my favorite carry gun. A close second would be my P320 RX... she hasn't quite proven herself yet... and not exactly concealed carry size. ;)

That's a tough question. "Go-to" can mean so many things. Is it the strongest and most versatile in the collection? (GP100). Is it the most reliable TEOTWAWKI tag-along? (Glock 19). My most accurate gun (Oddly enough, a Armscor Citadel)?

It would probably be the gun that maybe isn't perfect in all of those situations but covers them enough to win the day. Beretta 92fs. Extremely robust when treated with the most modest of common sense care, more reliable than my Glock (but the Glock has only had a single issue. Still 1 is greater than zero), and while not as out of the holster accurate as my SA 1911, the shots after the fist heavy pull shoot a ragged hole off hand. The distinctive report and recoil of the heavy 92 make it a joy to shoot. The classy Italian curves make it a joy to look at. Holsters abound, magazines are cheap, parts are aplenty.

She's not the most cutting edge weapon, but she has never let me down. Never a hiccup and always puts the bullet where I point. She enjoys sipping fine oil, but a beauty should never have to suffer being parched. That said, mud, dust, and gsr have never tripped her up. Always ferocious, always classy. Gorgeous custom made wood grips and a stainless guide rod are all I've done to her. She's the only gun I've ever named, and Rosa Belladonna would be the last gun I ever parted with.

I am not going to be buried with a firearm. After the life leaves my body, I no longer have need of any firearm. Now, if life is like the Egyptian's where you need things in the afterlife, I will take my good ol M39 and a nice collection of ammo. The ferryman will think twice about denying me a trip across.
