Your pick, hammer or hammer less?

I like hammer fired pistols for range fun, for carry and home defense. I own Glocks and like them as well. My Glock 48 is my preferred carry gun in the summer.
My Sig P220 or Ed Brown Kobra Carry I carry when I can cover them with a coat.

As to the safety of a fire arm being the purview of the carrier and not the fire arm, SO true.
Years ago I worked with a guy who picked up a new gun with a safety that "kept the gun from firing if the barrel was pushed up against something". I forget what it was, but he decided to show off how "safe" it was, by holding the barrel of the gun against the palm of his hand and pulling the trigger. The gun didn't operate as expected, and now, neither does his hand. ;)

Every single one of whom had to violate more than one of the four rules....

All the gizmos and certificates one year of experience 30 times over can't make people employ safe practices.

And you are absolutely correct. Noobs buying guns, however, are going to be more likely to "violate those rules". They're also going to be unlikely to buy safe holsters, or seek proper training. Glocks
, unbeknownst to all these poor noobs, are cocked, when loaded, and unfortunately, have a "safety system", which is easily defeated, on a firearm which they cannot un-cock.

Hey, it's not my conscience...

Hammer for me. I have a few striker guns, and don't really care about them at all, to be honest. My favorite of them is the Taurus PT111 G2, and I like it for it's size and capacity and because it's cheap, so if it breaks or whatever, it's no big deal. I have a couple of hammer guns a tiny bit bigger with the same capacity and greatly prefer them.

About 20% of my pistols are striker fired and I think they are all at least a half century old. I did have one of the original HS2000s but sold it a year or so ago.

I don't have any objection to striker fired guns but do consider the Glock and Glock-like designs totally brain-dead absurdities. Lots of folk like them though.

How is the 'Glock safety system' easily defeated?

"Poor noobs"...and many strikers operate the same as a Glock..but, it's a 'Glock' so might as well slam them...

I like them both. I have lots of both. Learn your sidearms operating system well, understand its idiosyncrasies, carry it properly and seek solid instruction to become competent with it. That’s all that is truly called for.

I don’t begrudge nor belittle anyone who carries one or the other; it truly is your choice so go with what you want.

Those (on this site and elsewhere) that have anointed themselves “Lord of the Gun” and routinely bash others who may prefer a different system than their chosen one clearly need to step back and take an inward look at why they’re becoming so hostile. o_O

Life is just too short.

Stay safe.

You can de-cock, while loaded, with a hammer. You can tell if it's cocked, with a hammer.
And on my P7, the striker is rearward when I squeeze the cocking mechanism and retracts when I let go making the gun perfectly safe and very easy to tell; if you do not squeeze it it can't fire.
With any other gun, the safety is between my ears. ANY of my guns not in a silicone sock is loaded and ready to go. I never have a gun with an empty chamber and a loaded mag in it - what would be the point? It is either ready to go or unloaded and safe.

If you asked a year ago, I would have said striker. But, after accidentally priming some 9mm’s with small rifle primers and experiencing over 50% failure to fire with my previously 100% reliable Glock 19, then successfully firing over 90% with my hammer equipped CZ P-09, I prefer hammer. I will look for a P-07, if prices ever get back close to “normal”.

I answered earlier that it was SA/DA for me. Then I picked up my Sig P365XL and enjoyed it all over again. I can shoot it well too. Hell, now I'm so convoluted on what I prefer. I guess it's anything I can shoot well and will save my bacon.

I really doesn't matter.

Follow Colonel Coopers 4 rules and know what condition your guns are in.

I grew up shooting 1911's, classes, IPSC/USPSA, IDPA, CCW.

Today I look for guns with the same grip angle for the same muscle memory

I like the M&P's and CZ's

I like the 1911 style thumb safety

I carry cocked & locked.

Striker or hammer, the manual of arms of these are all the same for me

I'm not sure what that even means, care to elaborate?

A Glock is perfectly safe in a proper Kydex holster. If you're the type that can't swing it, for a proper holster and belt, get something else.

Purse carry, and Glocks is a big no no, unless you've sew a holster in there. Which I have seen.

There's also no shame in simply preferring pistols with multiple safeties. But IMO, the 1911 cocked and locked, is the safest thing out there. And look how it's demonized by people. Even experienced shooters that should know better.
