I finally got to the Walmart early, 6:45am, and they had 30 boxes of this ZQI 9mm, 123gr. Nato FMJ. This stuff doesn't have much description on the box, brass casing, 50 rounds for 22 bucks. Walmart had signs up all over the sporting goods counter and ammo case saying you can only purchase one box per caliber, limit 3 calibers per day.

There was no one at the counter so I found an associate and asked for some help. He found someone to come down about 10 minutes later. He was a nice guy and asked me to be patient since he had to do his cash drawer, no problem with me. So he gets over to the ammo case and asks what I need. I told him one box of the 9mm, and asked if the one box policy is in effect. He said that someone had been very rude to him the day before and he thanked me for waiting patiently and said I could buy more if I wanted to...I got a second box. Almost 50 bucks for 100 rounds was good enough for me for today, plus I didn't want to be greedy.

What has been your experience with this ammo? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing since this is the Nato stuff this would be a little hotter than the 115gr target FMJ we're used to seeing? If this is the case I might hold onto this for penetration purposes and not shoot it up until I can get some more.
22 bucks though, that's pretty pricey.

I guess you were desperate, but $22 for a box of Turkish 9mm seems to be a total ripoff. I am seeing plenty of 9mm from US manufacturers for around $16 a box.

Yeah I was desperate, but my stash of ammo is getting low. I have not seen any other 9mm ammo except for a box of 20 hydrashoks for 25 bucks. I know that the Tul-ammo has been at this store. The range I go to does not permit steel or aluminum cases (Odd, since I could police all of the casings).
I've also never shot the Tul-Ammo, don't know about its reliability or really the reliability/quality of this CQI, it appears to be well made.

Yesterday my WM had 3 flavors of 9mm ball ammo at $13.97, $14.97, and $21.97. I'm not willing to pay that much for any of them.

$22 a box for Turk ammo, that's STEEP! But if it's anything like other calibers from Turkey, it's probably loaded hot, and likely steel jacketed. See if the bullet attracts a magnet; some ranges won't allow steel jacketed bullets.

Read the first post!

Seems all the Walmarts have that ZQI, but most only offer 1200 round ammo cans for $497.

My Walmart recently has had,

Federal 50 & 100 round packs
WWB 50 & 100 round packs
TulaBrass 50 & 100 round packs
PPU (Prvi-Partisan)
Tula Steel
CCI Blazer
Federal 115gr hollow points 20rnd
ZQI 1200 round ammo cans

Read what about the first post?

All I said is it's pricey, and likely has a steel bullet jacket, not steel cased.

Nova walmarts have been selling this stuff for $18 a box.Still a ripoff. It doesn't seem to be selling well either.

I asked a friend that works the ammo counter at the local Wally World about it, he said man we got ten boxes in last week, and you see ten boxes there now, it just ain't sellin. I agree it's overpriced but I'm a little shocked not a single box was bought, maybe I should pick some up just to try it, if it is indeed a little hotter may be a decent last resort when everything else is sold out

I wouldn't be surprised if it's better than Federal Champion or WWB, but you folks got to stop buying up all ammo that shows up on store shelves, really.

I didn't do the magnet test but it sure looks like copper to me.
My WM now has this stuff and the Brass Max by TulAmmo...about 30 boxes total...13.97 I think...low on cash and have restocked some so I passed on it this time.

They often put a copper wash on the bullet. RWS ammo looks copper, but it sticks to a magnet. Same with some wolf ammo.

I saw the individual boxes and ammo cans of it for the first time yesterday at our local walturd. I bought 10 rounds of 50BMG and 100 wwb 9mm instead.

There's plenty of this new ammo at my Walmart, even in 7.62NATO.

I have not tried it because its too expensive for my tastes. I usually always buy the cheaper ammo first.

9mmforMe, I have not run into this particular type of "NATO" labeled ammo, but have a few comments about 9MM NATO in general. I have been using the Winchester Q4318 NATO 9MM for about 15 years in semi autos, 9MM revolvers and Marlin 9MM carbines, thousands of rounds. I chronographed 9MM NATO out of various types of guns, with different action types, barrel lengths, etc. The NATO is loaded a little hotter than much American commercial ammo, and does generate higher velocities than non +P ammo of the same weight. I have not run into any issues using this 9MM NATO ammo in well maintained, quality guns. I have also used a smaller quantity of Federal and IMI NATO 9MM without issue. The Winchester NATO usually gives slightly less velocity than 124 grain +P, the IMI about the same as +P, and the Federal 9MM NATO I tested did not show any more velocity than common, run of the mill, US commercial ammo of the same bullet weight. I've not tried the ZQI, so have no comment on it's pricing or quality. But, if it is actually quality ammo loaded to NATO specs, the fact that is slightly hotter than a lot of US commercial ammo would not cause me concern about using it in my personal guns...ymmv

I saw a solitary box of it at the Bristol, TN Wal-Mart. It says on the box that it is loaded to NATO spec, which, if true, is a little "hotter" than typical 9mm range ammo. I'm still not going to pay $21.97 for training ammo.
