How about Hickock 45?

I don't watch a great deal of videos but I like Hickock45. Someone thought he's too folksy but I sorta like that about him. He not full of himself and seems to be having fun and he can shoot. It amazes me that he can pick up about anything, from tiny to big, and shoot it well. I like Paul Harrell also. Neither is a in your face, I know everything, you don't, type of person and they manage to do a good job of their presentation without a lot of hyperbole and BS.

I agree. I would much rather watch either of them than one of the only ones professional enough, or the lets torture test everything in sand or mud, or the guy that sits holding a gun talking about it for half an hour in a monotone voice.

Regardless of firearms reviews, he seems like a gentleman and someone with great composure.

And the Dude really has some huge hands!!!

To be honest about Hickok 45, he was: "here, let me show you what this pistol will do in this short amount of time". Perhaps he didn't have the pistol long enough to discover flaws as some have pointed out but what everyone saw was an honest appraisal of what he saw. I've heard him criticize handguns so in my opinion he didn't play up to manufacturers! I don't know of many that could or would do a better job than Hickok 45. He's well worth watching in my book!

I enjoy watching Hickok45 although he seems to be a bit long winded for me at times. Not meant as a complaint, just an observation. I frequently learn about all I care to before the end of the video.

I do like that he corrects his mistakes and makes fun of himself a bit when he can't hit a target

I don't like very many of the gun review guys. I do like forgotten weapons just because they talk about things that are less mainstream. I'm wore out on glocks and copies of them. I'm wore out on ARs too. I wish there were more folks who would briefly talk technically about the guns to explain actual differences beyond it being thinner or some obvious trait. All we hear anymore is striker fired, polymer framed, aggressively serrated, blah blah blah. Tell me what differences are between an XDm and a Glock if your gonna talk about them.

There are many reasons why I do respect Hickock45 videos.
Humble, honest and respectful about other opinions. Lastly is a good shooter.
I have been following Ian from Forgotten Weapons since his beginning.
C&Rsenal and Paul Harrell also grabbed my attention too.

As JohnKSa and others pointed out, hickok45 doesn't allow his private guns or borrowed favorites to become his personal Identity and Ego.

Why is that so difficult for so many keyboard Commandos?
And do many of these delicate people also not understand that if everybody wanted only Their preferred types of semi-auto handguns, and only two types of semi-auto rifles, they would be extremely expensive or totally unaffordable?

He seems honest and aware of his opinions, preferences, biases, and he's open about it. He refers to himself as your internet shooting companion not as a gun reviewer.

IMO he is one of the few out there worth watching.

This thread could end with the first response as far as I'm concerned.

An enjoyable watch. When the Mrs. hears the videos coming on she comments, "That's how you want to be when you go out to shoot". Happy!

I've used the term "folksy" in reference to his stuff.
They are folksy talk & plinks, as opposed to technical reviews.

There's not a thing wrong with folksy, that's not a negative term.
He just gives out little real info during his productions, and frequently runs a shade over-long. :)

they should put him on nra board of directors not some of these other people who are not so nice .

I like Hickok's reviews. He shoots, explains, shoots some more then gives a break down. You can tell when he doesn't like a particular model. He does not beat down on it, but puts things in his perspective and just leaves it, "it just may be me". So always food for thought when weapon browsing.

He’s okay. I enjoy him, but his videos are too long and maybe not technical enough sometimes.

I don’t have a favorite.

It’s easier to name the worst...

I prefer H45 over pretty much anybody else doing gun reviews. Ian of forgotten weapons is a great resource, but he's not really a reviewer, more of a reference for, well, forgotten and unusual weapons. He does branch out but rarely shoots the guns he shows

A lot of other reviewers don't really appeal to me. I don't worship at the alter of tacticool, so the web gear, ballistic armor, and operator-speak for a YouTube review just looks and sounds silly to me.

I shoot like Hickock45 does...for fun, as an exercise in leisure, mechanical fascination, and to appreciate my collection.

If I want ant to laugh and see a fun person shoot, I watch him.

If I want technical info I watch Mr. Guns n Gear, Sootch, and a few others.

Or read the guns specs off the webpage...

Hickock and Paul Harrell are the two I watch regularly. Few of the various others ill watch occasionally if the vid seems interesting. Dont have much time to watch internet videos anymore with two little ones about.

I would rather listen to folksy Hickock 45 that some of the uber-tactical types.

Hickcock just describes the reallife results he had with guns and demonstrates them.

To me .40 S&W and .45 ACP are good choices. I want to forget the YouTube guy who likes to diss the one over the other. The only reason I would select my .40 S&W over my .45 ACP is that I wore the heck out of my .45 in the military matches.

Hickcock to me recognizes your mileage may vary, but these are his results.
