Search my name and Havak and you’ll find a pretty extensive review. The PH2 is the same action and barrels as the PH1 I have , but with a new version Timney trigger (Elite Hunter instead of 510), and a modified stock contour.
As a complete rifle, the PH2 is a fantastic value. The sum of the component parts for my PH1 left the action itself only “costing” around $200 in the package - which is a $1200 action when purchased bare.
The long action Havak’s use a proprietary magazine, which I think was a major mistake by Seekins. The short action Havak’s are AI pattern mags. I use AIAW mags in my short action Havak, and it feeds wonderfully. I’ve heard of a few guys talking about rough actions, Glen messaged me on FB a few wks ago that it was supposedly machining oil reacting with dust from the original packaging materials, which made a nasty, gummy mess inside. Mine didn’t have that issue. A light wipe with oil, when the DLC was fresh, and it ran super smooth - not DLC Defiance smooth, but ridiculously smooth for the $1800 total price I paid for the complete rifle.
I would generally recommend against buying the bare action based on the price - unless you can find one of the easily sourced 25% off Seekins coupons - because a guy can get a lot of action for $1200, but I’m not really convinced there’s a better featured action out there for $800. The Havak’s are priced well for their feature set, but not everyone would pay extra in other actions for the non-optional DLC bolt. Integral lug but bolt on rail - that’s a $900-1000 action, add $200 for bolt DLC and you arrive at their $1200 price point - with standard features which are upcharges on some other actions. Comparatively, I paid more for my Defiance Deviant with DLC - I had a 15% off deal and still paid more - as it should be, for a better action with more features.
But in the complete rifle, they’re an exceptional value, and the action effectively comes for free, let alone the custom spiral fluting. ESPECIALLY if you can pick up one of the coupons, get a PH2 for $1425... can’t think of a better value in its class.
The only complaints I had were supply chain issues in the early days of their launch. I needed spare parts and a replacement barrel a lot faster than they had anticipated, so I was out cold for a year. Things have leveled out now, and they’ve caught up - finally.
