Hi folks. My stepson and I ordered a .22 for his daughter. It's a Heritage Firearms Ranch Carbine. Because of the strange times we're in and the popularity of the carbine, we ordered early. Ordered early in July for her mid August birthday. Still not in.

It's not like this is a major self defense style firearm. I understand that times are strange and it's tough to get some things. But seriously, a single action .22? Anyone else waiting a long time for anything?

I purchased a Shiloh Sharps back in May; I purchased a pre-bought order slot that should have had my rifle ready for shipping about two months ago - still waiting for it - COVID stuff as I understand. In turn, I purchased a Winchester ‘92 Trapper Takedown Deluxe last Friday, my UPS tracking tells me delivery tomorrow. I think it just all depends on availability from your seller.

Right now, EVERYTHING is in short supply. Not just ammo, but firearms in general as well, and accessories. With the entire COVID issue, lots of manufacturing plants are understaffed, and their suppliers are understaffed, raw materials are in shorter supply as well. Couple that with folk with additional time on their hands looking for things to do, and many have turned to (or back to) the outdoors. All through the summer, any local or chain sporting goods store has had fishing tackle aisles decimated. The local Fleet Farm sporting goods department looked like a closeout store. I've been looking for a slug shotgun for deer hunting since June. Still nothing in stock anywhere on the gun I'm searching for.

I placed an order on July 30th to Larue for a barrel. I emailed them a few weeks ago asking for an update but still haven't heard back.

I ordered a few shillelaghs from two different stick makers in Ireland. One of them took over a month to get here, and usually it's only 10 days.

COVID and holiday shopping has everything moving slow. Give extra lead time.

I live 90 miles north of Indianapolis. I sent my daughter that lives there a Christmas card with a substantial check three weeks ago. Still hadn’t seen it as of last week, so I sent another Priority Monday to replace it. Scheduled for Tuesday delivery.

It’s Thursday morning and neither have arrived

The US Postal service is a total disaster right now. UPS and FEDEX are fine...but USPS? Yikes. I ordered some brass from Grafs on Dec 3'd, got wind that it will be sipping USPS, I can't wait to see how long it will take those idiots to get a package from Mo to IL...my guess? Weeks.

I've had mixed luck. I ordered some parts from Numrich in New York; they were ordered on the 9th, and were supposed to be here yesterday. USPS says they departed Springfield, Mass yesterday night. On the flip side, @LoonWulf sent me some brass from Hawaii on the 10th and it arrived on the 14th! Go figure. UPS is shipping great. FedEx sucks! I order some things that were shipped with them. They shipped my package from MN to AR, then AR to MS, then MS to TN, then BACK to AR. Morons.

Almost EVERYTHING is on backorder or allocation in the gun industry right now. I've spent the last 7-8 months telling people that we can get them something, if they're flexible, but odds are low we'll be able to get a specific something in any time-frame. And we've been emphasizing this by refusing to take money or do special orders for items that aren't currently in stock. As I've been saying "I won't accept money for something I have no timeline for delivering." Single-action revolvers, common polymer frame pistols, SIG's "Emperor Spider Atomic Defender" version of their latest hot-selling pistol, whatever, most of it just isn't physically available in any quantity at the moment.

As for shipping, I ordered a Vedder holster for my Walther PPQ on Thanksgiving Day. Vedder actually shipped it USPS on December 2nd, originally due December 7th. It went from Florida to Boston MA, went out, didn't check in for a week, was scanned in in Bangor ME, went back out and hasn't been scanned again yet. I was hoping to have it for my birthday, but now it looks like Christmas is out of the question and I'll be lucky to see it after New Year's. Luckily I'll be able to hand-deliver the gifts for my friends and family.

I order a rear sight from Bowen Classic Arms well over a year ago. I'm not sure I'm ever getting it. I've chased sights ordered with them before, but it's never been more than a year.

ETA: Just checked and I ordered it November....2018! I've also got a string of emails chasing it.

As long as I'm not in a hurry for something, FedEx tracking actually makes me giggle and scratch my head. I forget what it was, but it was from Ohio coming to me in Pennsylvania. It went somewhere north to New England, then south of Pa to Maryland. Then finally to a MAJOR distribution center about twelve miles from me. All I could think at the time was how can they turn a profit with that kind of inefficiency.

Saw on the news this morning the USPS Indianapolis Regional Sorting Operation is receiving 16 semi loads of packages per day to sort and unfortunately on avg only able to sort half that amount. They did reassure viewers first class mail was not impacted by this bottleneck while asking for our patience.

Our Post Office is 2 miles down the road. When I was ready to ship my rifle barrel/action for bedding and fitting for a new stock, I drove the 12 miles to UPS!

I've also had mixed results with both purchases and shipping. Priority mail is anything but the delivery time advertised. Packages that I have tracked have taken anywhere from a week to as long as 16 days. These were all shipped among mid western states. They usually took 2-3 days.
Gun related items; I've been waiting for a couple months for some cast bullets. Not a problem just replacing some bullets in my reloading inventory.
Non gun; all over the place as well. Most Christmas presents arrived in time but there's a few that will not make it in time. Thankfully they're for adult children and they understand as they are experiencing the same issues.
All I can say is these are sure some crazy times.

I don't feel quite so bad now. I am a little bummed that she didn't get her present. But there were others. Just a bummer because she knows pop-pop gets her the cool presents.

USPS from Amazon Prime: got a couple yesterday after 8 days. One went from 'pre-shipment, label created' directly to 'out for delivery', the other was stuck in 'accepted' limbo. Have two more that are 14 days in 'Accepted' limbo. Fedex takes 2 days.

Most places have warnings about longer than usual processing times but that hasn't been a problem, so far, and shipping has been decent. However, Missouri Bullets and Grafs and sons are serious about the delays. They are both running flat out but have staff shortages and some delays getting materials quickly so just getting your order to the delivery company is longer by weeks. As long as I plan for it there's no problem. (I assume they will meet the delay times.)

This is why I made sure to get adequate supplies after the last shortage a few years ago. And seeing the civil unrest over the past year, the disruptions due to the pandemic, the political climate during an election time, and the first hints of massive guns and ammo sales, I topped up my supply needs. Even being right, it's no fun being Cassandra.

I'm still surprised that gun and ammo sales have gone so far. Even finding 22 single actions or cap and ball revolvers has become a problem. The local Cabelas has a few Heritage Rough Riders in stock with 6.5" barrels and the extra 22 magnum cylinder. I was tempted to get one just for the decent price even though I have Rugers set up the same way.

Ha! I guess it's not even related to what's going on nowadays, but in 1996, my wife ordered a Shiloh-Sharps for me for our 25th Anniversary. And I didn't get the rifle until 1998 - for our 27th Anniversary! That was because "Quigley Down Under" came out in 1990, and by 1996, Shiloh Rifle Company still had a 2-year backorder log for their rifles.
BTW, back in June this year my wife and I celebrated our 49th Anniversary, and we didn't give one-another anything gun related. We didn't even go out to dinner. I hope things will be better next year even though right now I can't think of any new guns I'm longing for. But I know me - that will probably change by the time June gets here.:D

Waiting on parts from Dillon. I bought a used press and it needed some missing parts. I figured since it was a used press I have no problem paying for the parts. $18.95 in parts, and $10.99 in shipping. Ordered them on November 24th, they left Dillon on November 25th, scheduled to be delivered on December 1st. Now delivery date is gone and says in transit.

Can't complain as everything we have ordered for the kids and grandkids has come in on time. Had it all wrapped and ready to go last weekend and I can't remember the last time that ever happened!

According to a Reuters news article last week, UPS and FedEx are the sole shipping contractors for the vaccine. They are prioritizing that over everything. Every piece has RFID tracking, and they have command centers to track every piece through their respective systems. Security escorts for the trucks making the last mile delivery to the point of use. That, alone, is going to gum up the works.

The guys over at At The Front (they make and sell repro WWII field gear for reenactors) recently posted a photo of a string of semis waiting to get into the local postal distribution center near them in KY. Said the trucks ahd been waiting, parked on the side of the road, for days.

I put a deposit down for a snow blower in...September I think. They said it would be here in October. Then November. Then they said it would happen this year. I just got it last Saturday. I just waited 2 weeks to get a plastic fuel valve for a lawn mower engine from Amazon. (Everything from Amazon has been running 2 weeks.) I've been waiting 3 weeks for a socket.

As for firearms related stuff, I have completely and totally given up on anything shooting related. I no longer even look for ammo or reloading components. It has become a completely useless endeavor. Everyone is stripped clean of everything and, as many here have already stated, online purchases are taking months when they once took days. It is a complete goat rope.
