I have been looking for an 1858 Sheriffs model from Pietta but still see that there are none to be had anywhere. I just did a google search and couldn't turn anything up. Anyone have any clue as to when they may start shipping again?

I have a brass framed 1858 Richland Arms in unfired condition I would like to sell and use that money for the Sheriffs model. But I want a shorter barreled gun in 44 caliber. Any guesses on what the gun I have now would sell for or a good starting price on gunbroker?

Does anyone here have the Pietta Sheriffs model and if so how do you like it? How is the fit and finish? I had a Pietta 44 probably 25 or more years ago and thought it was one of the best fitted best timed revolvers I had ever owned. When I bought it from Cabelas the price was around $125 IIRC. That should give you an idea of how long ago that was.

Jedediah Starr Trading Co. has 3 different Pietta 1858 Sheriff models available in stock.

The price of a new Pietta brass 1858 is about $250 plus shipping, but I doubt that an older Richland Arms would sell for that much unless it has collector's value.
There's always details such as who made it, are parts available, does it come with a box, what year was it made.
Maybe it can be listed for $199 - $209 - $219 for a starting price.
Nice photos can help to sell a revolver.

Deer Creek has 2 new old stock ASM 1858 brassers for $230.

Honestly I wanted the Uberti version, but Christmas of 2013 and the $199 deal with a free starter kit found me with the Pietta instead.

Mine shoots left by several inches at 15 yds. It has too small of a loading window/port so I had to open it up so as to use WFN bullets. It also needed the nose of the hammer filed a bit as it wouldn’t securely lock up in the safety notches. It also had very sharp corners on the hand and bolt stop that needed smoothed. And I really detest the reddish stain they used so I fixed that while I sanded them down as they were a bit large for me and in places they didn’t have a nice fit. And then there’s the grossly undersized chambers I had reamed to 0.449” (thinking of going to 0.452”) and chamfered.

I still want the front sight dovetailed and the chambers furthered reamed, and then I think I will be super happy with it. It does group quite well.

Yeah, I noticed that. Going to try out my Pietta 36 5.5" tomorrow. If I have enough fun (low bar) I will be in the market for a 44.

If I already didn't have two Pietta Remingtons I would be sorely tempted by the Sheriff's model with the color case hardened frame and checkered wood grips! That is one sweet looking NMA!
 
Thanks. You guys are great. And thanks arcticap for the link. That’s what I’m looking for. The price is a little higher than Cabelas but if you want to play you gotta pay. I already have the bullet mold. A Lee .454 on hand that I have never used.

The shorter barrel just looks right to me and I want to do the Mike Belivue dovetail front sight blade like in his YT video I have watched several times. I would like to have a gun that shoots to the sights and not a foot high or to the side.

Who did you have ream your chambers and is this a common repair? I can do the dovetail. I’ve done that a few times.
 
I also picked up a 58 Sheriff in a Cabelas sale a couple years ago.
I load on the gun and the short loading lever of the Sheriff is annoying. Just doesn't give you enough leverage. It does work it just not as easy as the full size gun.

There are cheater bars available and I should just make one myself out of a piece of copper water pipe.

One downfall to the Pietta Sherriff is the fact that you can't remove the Cylinder Pin,
this issue has been overcome. With a little time, the pin is now removable.

A year or two ago Pietta began dovetailing the front sight of their 8" base model Remington 1858.
I don't know if they do that with the Sheriff model or not, but it could depend on whether you buy a newer production gun.
It could be worth calling the vendor to inquire about.

I got mine from Cabelas a few months back. I CALLED all of their stores in Texas. Paid for it and had it shipped to a local store. They wont sell them online.

They make you come in in person and sign "I'm not a wife beater" form nowadays.

Pocket, did your Sheriff model have a dovetailed front sight?
Was it a new production gun made in 2020 or 2019?

A person can check online to see if any Cabela's stores have one in stock by clicking on "change my store" on the product page.
After checking Cabela's in different states, the only one that I could find in stock was at my local store in East Hartford, Connecticut.
Maybe you can call the CT store and have it shipped to your local store in Texas.
I just kept typing in the name of major cities in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado and none showed any in stock except for my home store.

I have this rod from slix...its made from a soft aluminum and it actually rubbed some markings on my rammer loading bar. It isnt permanent and cleaned off with a good clean rubbing with a rag but it was a little bit of a surprise. I would just make one out of a copper plumbing pipe...half inch should do...maybe even wrap leather around it.

Check for a maker's mark under the loading lever.
If you are not sure what it represents, send us a photo.
I have several Richland Arms revolvers, both Remington and Colt replicas and they are all Armi San Marco.
They use their name, their initials or their initials stacked over each other to form a pyramid.
Value will also depend on condition (both cosmetic and functionally) and caliber.
.36 caliber 1858's have been going for more lately than .44 as there are fewer of them out there.
There is only one on GB today:

I may have already sold the gun. So now I need to see if Cabelas can ship the gun arcticap told me about to the Ft Worth store.
