I ordered my first custom Barrel!!!!

Hello, Everyone

I just want to take a moment and tell you all about the new custom barrel I ordered! It is a 24 inch 1/7 twist 6 grove .920 heavy varmint profile (6MM ARC)from Shilen!!!

Now I would like to personally thank several of my enablers this isn’t an all inclusive list but off the top of my head

@Nature Boy, @Varminterror ,@CraigC @MCMXI @LoonWulf

Thanks Guys I couldn’t/wouldn’t have done it without you!!!

P.S. My wife is going to kill me when she finds out :rofl:

I wouldn't worry about your wife killing you...at least until the barrel is installed.

The one thing I have going for me is it’s another Ar-15 according to her they all look the same!

The beauty of building an AR15, skipping the installation costs!

I've started plotting my next one that will be in 6.8 SPCII geared towards night hunting. IF I do another precision bolt gun, it will be a Remage style in a chassis.

I can see it now. "Honey, has your barrel on your rifle always been that big and long?" Just tell her it has gained weight due to lack of exercise because of ammo costs.

Now that you have crossed over to the dark side, you might go by to visit Mad Dog Weapons Systems. Bruce is designing and building some pretty special AR-15 cats. He sells barrels, dies, brass, etc. He is the designer of the Wolverine and the Valkyrie and a GPC line of 6.8 SPC based cats plus Dasher based cats. Their forum is a cat person place.

If it's like most Shilen barrels,you won't be disappointed.The ones I have are great shooters.I have a 223 that I recently broke the .250 for 5 shots at 100 yards barrier,and my 280 AI barrel beat that with a .194.

I don't even want to start adding up all the money THR enablers have cost me.

I find the fact that I may have done the same thing to others somewhat disturbing......but also oddly satisfying at the same time :evil:

Glad I didn’t make the list... I spend enough on my own, I don’t need to help spend other people’s money too. Heck, it is a lot easier to spend other people’s money and then I might forget about that when it’s my credit card number hitting the little gray box.

What’s the rest of the build look like? I’m sure we can help you get it in good shape quickly.

no name low profile .936 gas block
no name steel gas tube
Nordic components free float tube
Cmc flat 2.5 lb trigger
Noreen firearms stripped upper
No name upper complete kit
Anderson lower
UtG A2 Stock
Gisselle rifle length braided G42 buffer spring
No name lpk

Shilen match grade barrel

and I think that’s it I don’t want it to be super flashy I want it to shoot that’s all lol

I’m amazed to see all the really nice parts mixed with no name parts and an Anderson lower. I already love it. It’s like a crown Vic dragster.... all business for function but absolute ridiculousness under the hood!!!

I have to deliberately shoot a bit off target center for all shots after the first one. Otherwise, I can't be sure how many I fired. (If you believe that B.S. I have more.) Ha ha!
