Does anyone have any experience with Bond Arms CS? The rebound spring (they call it a "torsion spring") broke on my Roughneck last month, I contacted them through their website on 2/28 but never heard back from them. I reached out again last night and got an email back this morning:

"That is not a part that we can send out. The gun will need to come in to us to be repaired. Please give us a call if you would like to send the gun in."

I'm a little tepid about sending the pistol in. It won't be cheap if they don't pay for shipping and lord only knows how much time they will have it for, considering the time it took for Bond Arms to even reply to me, not to mention the chance of it disappearing in shipping. I know the argument that manufacturers are trying to protect themselves from liability but I really dislike the "send the entire gun in" when the issue is a single part trend. What would you all do?

They seem to have a generally good reputation. I had a good experience with them remedying a problem with a barrel. Obviously I didn't need to send them the whole gun for that though.

I can't remember if I emailed them first, but if I did, they responded requesting me to give them a call. They were very responsive and helpful on the phone.

There is always a risk in shipping, that is what the insurance is for. I would think they would give you a turnaround time estimate when you send it.

The only experience I have with them is that I called a few years ago to get a spare barrel pin to have in case I dropped one in the weeds changing barrels. The guy said "No problem. Give me your address and I'll send you one". I asked how much and he said "Don't worry about it, just give me your address." Several days later I got one in the mail. No charge.

Just a quick update: I ended up ordering $3 worth of piano wire and made a new spring myself. Hopefully I won't need to contact their CS anymore in the future but I'll give a phone call a try next time. I really hate how many manufacturers would rather have you ship the whole gun instead of shipping out a part.

I can definitely sympathize with your reluctance to send the gun out. Please let us know how the repair goes. I have considered making a lighter guage recoil spring so that I could run a lighter hammer spring and not get light strikes.

Note, I don't carry my bond for any critical (i.e. self defense) purpose. It is a range/plinking gun, so I am ok with tinkering with the springs to slick things up.
