What can I say except for TOP NOTCH. I'm almost speechless.

On Monday the 10th I went to the local post office and sent out the factory magazine and recoil spring to my dad's old PT-945. This pistol sits, loaded, under the counter at our business and has been for the better part of 12 years anyway. I shoot it for fun here and there and we got the pistol second hand. Who knows how many rounds this gun has fired. It always functioned 100% ..well it stopped functioning 100% and started having huge FTF issues so I figured sending the recoil spring and mag spring to be replaced should solve the problems. I called Taurus and they said sure send them in for replacement.

Almost three weeks go by with no word from Miami so I call them up and ask what the deal was. The guy tells me they never recieved my stuff. Great, now the PT in PT-945 stands for PaperweighT. I called the Post Office and they politely told me that since I didn't pay for tracking or insurance I'm outta luck. Yay.

So I called Taurus back and told the woman my tale of woe and asked if I could buy a recoil spring and magazine and how much it would cost. Magazines are listed at $32 on their website but they don't list parts. The girl on the phone tells me they will send me replacements free of charge and asks for my address so she can ship them out right away! How is that for service??? Say what you want about their firearms but I love them. The neglected 945 that sits and accumulates dirt, moisture and rust is a solid gun. I can't wait to get her back in running order. With service above and beyond like that, I'm a Taurus customer for life.

Hopefully my stuff will arrive tomorrow or Friday so I can take it to the range this weekend with my Colt WWII repro that just came back today from Colt for some warranty work. You have to love companies that treat their customers right.:D

Taurus is Value

I own a 357 608ss, a PT92B, and a PT945ss. I've put at least 3000 rounds through each and have never had an issue. I clean, oil, and wipe down the exterior with a reel cloth every time I shoot them. But there is a lot to be said for one that lays around for years and still shoots.

I've looked at the more expensive models, shot my share of them, but still for the money you can't beat what Taurus has to offer. Service, quality and price, find that any where else in this country besides Midway USA and Taurus. Ok I'll get off my soap box now.

I've only dealt with their CS on 1 item, a Model 85 snub I had years ago. Have to admit, they allowed shoddy workmanship get past QC: this gun had light primer strikes with a DA trigger pull & the barrel was machined in such a way that when it was threaded into the frame the front sight went past 12:00. It was more like 11:00, & the gun didn't shoot anywhere near POA. This goes back to the early to mid 90s.

It took a while to get back - maybe 6 weeks - but when returned, the little snub shot very well. Everything was corrected: a new barrel & new mainspring. I sold it to a good friend years later, to my knowledge he still has it.

I currently have a PT940. I've considered selling it a few times as I don't use it much, but when I go to shoot up the ammo I have for it I decide to keep it! :banghead: It's just too accurate & too reliable to let go.

I have no hesitation in recommending a Taurus to anyone who is interested in their products.

Took 5 weeks to fix light striking fireing pin and replace a cracked grip. They also polished the feed ramp. This was a PT-22 Seems to work now.

I bought a blued 605 when they first
came out.It didn't shoot anywhere
near POA.I sent it back on their
dime.2 weeks later it arrived back,i
tested it and it shot great.

My experience with their customer no-service was not as good as the rest of ya'll....just lucky like that, I guess.

They entered the wrong part #'s , were rude and disinterested when I called for updates on delivery, etc.

Won't own another! I vote with my wallet. Now, how do we do that with politicians?

Lex in NC

As a 10mm freak only they are bringing out new tens.
I will buy one of the shorter barreled ones and take the money I saved and buy more DoubleTap 10mm ammo

My experience is more like Lex'. Titanium Tracker in .357 developed hairline fractures in the cylinder after not very many shots. Sent it back and it took over 8 weeks to get a replacement. I began calling them regularly at about 5 weeks. I honestly don't believe I'd have gotten the replacement when I did if I hadn't called them frequently. AND it was a replacement - time required for repair of the firearm was not a factor. Their attitude was one of high dis-interest from the beginning. I've said it before and I'll say it again:

LIFETIME WARRANTY shouldn't mean that it takes a LIFETIME to get them to honor it.

This coupled with a PT-99 whose rear sight literally fell apart before my eyes has sealed the deal for me with Taurus. Obviously, there are those of you out there who have had wonderful experience with Taurus products and service. I'm just not among your ranks and won't be buying anymore of their products anytime soon.

It's good to hear a positive report. Maybe they're trying to improve. I've heard a lot of griping about 'em. I have two Tauri that I like a whole lot and ain't sellin'. One of 'em's an older M66 and that thing is a jewel and unreal accurate. I bought it used at a gun show for under 200 bucks. One of the better deals I've ever made on a revolver. It's pretty, too, nice nickel finish. I now own one Smith and Wesson. I think Taurus is a good quality firearm for a lot less and, frankly, more desirable to me than a new Smith. The trigger on my little M85UL is quite impressive and it shoots well and cost a lot less than a comparable J frame Smith. My daughter's boy friend has a new SP101 and the trigger is aweful compared to the Taurus. I suggested he have it worked over, not that expensive, but out of the box that little Taurus was slick and light.

I like Rossi, too. They are great little guns for the money. I'm no S&W snob. I like looking for value. Don't get me wrong, I think Smiths are great guns, especially the older ones. And, I'm sorta shopping for a round butt short barreled K frame on the used shelves at the gun shows at the moment to add to the collection, but I don't put down other alternatives. I've had too many good ones to do that.

I'd say they were adequate in my experience. They got my gun back to me in a little over 4 weeks (correct to their estimated timeline) and it seems to be fine (wasn't a dramatic problem).

They weren't really great on the communication end though as far as informativeness (though I did end up getting a mailed notice that they indeed had received the gun), but service was free of charge (I had to pay shipping to Taurus).

Overall, It seemed to be pretty hassle free in my case.
