I'll ask again....
WHERE are those THR members who repeatedly argued that this administration "has more things to worry about?"
Although I never argued the point, I'm one who thinks the .gov
does have more important things to worry about at the moment. Does this mean that trying for an AWB in the future not going to happen? Probably will try - but not tomorrow.
Clinton's AWB didn't happen until '94 - 2 years into his term (and was started during the final year of Bush #41). The violent crime rate was higher then; people didn't feel as safe from crime as they do today (note that crime
was not an issue for either candidate in this past election).
Now is the time to remind our elected officials about 2A, RKBA, Heller, etc. and that criminals are the problem - not the devices they use (when was the last time you heard talk about banning cars because of some drive-by shooting?). Also, Biden is no Dick Cheney - he may be very powerful and influencial, but he's better known for foriegn policy than domestic, and BHO is calling the shots (sorry - no pun intended!)
And while you are at it, keep the email/snail mail addresses of the major news outlets on hand as well; it might be worth the time to contact them when a negative firearms story/editoial is broadcast, letting them know (nicely!) that the vast majority of gun owners are legal, responsible law-abiding citizens.
