OH NO. This is not good.

"These are weapons of war, and they don't belong on the streets of Miami or any other street in America," the police chief said.

Uh...yeah...unless they're on the streets in the hands of those above the law or below the law right chiefo? Corruption in LE pisses me off. These bovine bowel liners tout their urban safety scripts to the outlets of the media lemming to keep the masses distracted from the real issues. And this perp; this walking rectal cavity with the minimal IQ necessary to pull a piece of metal with his finger and steal life from the innocents; HE is the REAL assault weapon. BAN HIM!:fire:

He's a predator, plain and simple. When the predators get put in charge of the hen house, it's time to get out of the poultry business and into the fur trade!

I am from a rural area. When I was in Medical School in AR I went to Miami Dade Hospital and spent 3 months of my Senior year there. The paramedics took me on a show ride one day through a bad part of town. I thought I was in a 4th world country. The people did not even look like people. The ground was nothing but trash and broken glass. Everyone and I mean everyone just looked out of it. There is no way to stop the killing in these areas. Sad and frightening. Nothing like that in the whole State of AR.

Now check out the cnn.com homepage. It's getting worse as we speak!!!

A war zone? Really?

well, there is the "shot heard around the world" for obama and his gang. another case of a stupid person doing something we all will have to pay for.

Stuff like this will be center stage for a new AWB, kindly remind you .gov employee that knee-jerk reactions that lead to a new AWB will lead to another "94 revolution" i.e. .gov employees will be looking for new jobs.

Well, it's certainly not the cover story on Fox News. I had to go seek it out under the U.S. section. I want to see what Glenn Beck says about it.

The polical climate for a new AWB will really pick up steam after the next terrorist hit. Why next instead of if? Testing the new USA's government.

I think it will REALLY pick up steam after a bunch of ME terrorists start blazing away at a school, mall, office building or a bus stop. Mumbai, Beslan and other incidents have already shown that these places are soft targets.

I don't think they'll try that kind of attack here. It doesn't inflict enough damage and we'd have a much swifter counter attack than the Mumbaians. Our SWAT team doesn't carry Enfield's and terrorists know that. A trained SWAT team with M4's is much scarier than Mumbai police with rifles from the first world war. I agree that another tack is all but certain, but I also think it will be explosive in nature and it will be a sensitive target like a port or nuclear plant. Would a school shooting kill a lot of kids? Yea. But the damage would be limited to the families and our sensibilities. They are looking to make a huge and real impact. They want to do destroy our economy, infrastructure, etc. Killing a bunch of kids will just make us angry and not have as damaging an impact.

I go to medical school in Detroit. I can say I understand what you are saying.

Why doesn't a shooting with pistols make the news yet an AK clone does?

I remember watching something on gang violence on CNN a few months back. One of the gang members was "cut down in a hail of 9mm AK-47 gunfire." I didn't know that the gangs were into hard-core gunsmithing nowadays  What is this fascination with the AK style?

I think more people have died from illegal handguns than any other type of weapon in this country. Am I Correct?

What I like to know is why cannot American pass an Assault Human Ban and help legalize gun ownership rights for law abiding citizens. This country's whole mess is that it empowers criminals while beating and stomping on its law abiding citizens. THe liberal pansy wansy mothership has been leading the way to the destuction of morals and the degradation of our society. These same idiots who constantly go after law abiding citizens and criminalize them or empowering terrorists, gang members, drug dealers, and every other various form of criminal deviant who enjoys such free reign in their tyranny.

What other country can you be sued for shooting an intruder in your house who threatens the life of your family? Or perhaps, the fact that many murderers walk the streets, since all types of legal loopholes exist and technicalities are the name of the court game. Godless lawyers seem to rule our country more than we can comprehend.

In America if you murder someone you have only 30% chance of going to prison.

Cannot we bring back public hangings like we did in the good ol days? Whatever happen to justice? Why do they insist we open our mexican border more and more so more criminals can help arms gang members, criminals and terrorists. In the same time the people pushing for more open borders are pushing to ban more and more weapons for law abiding citizens.

Does anybody smell a conspiracy perhaps? Or is this just sheer lunacy on behalf of the Neo-Castroites who are now in control of our destinies?

let's say this AWB were to be put into effect. would it just be like the 94' ban? or would it be a new ban that effectively makes owning ANY firearm illegal? i know the 94' ban was easily bypassed with the "post-ban" configurations. if the AWB were to be passed we can still own our AR-15s, but just can't have a flash hider, magazine over 10. i know that would suck, but it could be worse... like a complete ban.

Maybe somebody else could post it but there have been new AWB's proposed in the last few months or year. It would probably look something like that. If somebody would be kind enough to post it...

UPDATE: NEW CNN.COM FRONTPAAGE HEADLINE

Gunman used AK-47 to fire on crowd, police say

CBRGATOR : here's the information I've found. Pulled this off one of my other posts from earlier this week.

Actually there were two bills in the last two years that have been introduced.

The HR 110-1022 bill of 2007 was an absolute nightmare as it used ONE 'feature' to define an 'assault weapon', banned several models and derivatives of pistols, and it effectively banned private transfers. The anti-2nd guys really did their homework on it and wiped out almost every loophole you can think up.

You can see the text of it here.
Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007

Section 3 and Section 6 & 7 are the REALLY dangerous portions of this particular bill.
Example: 10 years imprisonment for transferring a semi-automatic assault rifle. I kid you not. :uhoh:

The HR 110-6257 AWB Reauthorization act of 2008 was basically AWB II with nothing new and exciting in it.

You can see the text of it here.
Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008

Both were introduced but never made it out of committee.

**this post is for informational purposes only

As much as this incident might seem to hurt our cause, how many times has the lack of a weapon allowed untimely and unjust death? The events of 09/11/2001 come to mind. One gun on each plane - guns forbidden to be brought aboard - could have stopped those terrorists, and maybe even the mere presence of guns on all airlines might have put such a plan in the not-likely-to-succeed category, and not even be attempted!

I think this tragedy is unlikely to do much damage, and might even turn against those who attempt to use it to "support" a weapons ban of any kind. Their attempted use will only open the door for us to show how arms in the hands of the law abiding can stop, and in some cases prevent, such incidents. In fact, it would behoove us to bring it up first!

Woody

If you want security, buy a gun. If you want longevity, learn how to use it. If you want freedom, carry it. B.E.Wood

Woody, I'd like to think so, but I doubt it. They have the irrational thought that gun control = no crime. What you are saying makes perfect sense, but they don't see it that way.

Bought & Pd. for by Geo. Soros

This just rings of Soros! What timing! $100,000 to the right bum and "Bingo", an instant anti-AK47 headline. That police chief may have rcv'd a buck or two to say the "right thing @ the Right time".... AKA "I'm going to Disney Land!"

Only speculating................ or am I ???

Actually.....

The "weapons of war" comment was made by Mayor Diaz, not the Chief of Police (two mushy peas in a pod). I wonder what the DA or FL Attorney General will have to say....Hmmmm. I'm sure the lack of guns for private citizens has made things much safer back in Havana:scrutiny: Does anyone have stats???

Yokel, where have you been?

On topic:

Bet you my last dollar that this will not result in an AWB. Any knee jerk reactionary bills won't make it out of committee right now. For now, revenue and spending is the focus along with some intermittent "social" reprogramming. The heavy duty stuff won't appear until there is a lull in the economic news.

No, this incident will not result in an AWB. It's just another even they'll add to the list that pushes things in their favor.

Amen 4Freedom!

Why can't we pass a Assault Human Ban? Charlton Heston called it right years ago when he called that creep who abducted the little girl from her home in Petaluma, CA "an assault weapon" and held up the guys picture in front of the nation's capitol in DC.

As I posted above:

This perp is a walking rectal cavity with the minimal IQ necessary to pull a piece of metal with his finger and steal life from the innocents; HE is the REAL assault weapon. BAN HIM!:fire:

He's a predator, plain and simple. When the predators get put in charge of the hen house, it's time to get out of the poultry business and into the fur trade!

My signature line says it all.

i was about to comment on this and see it's already here.what a load of crap. major diaz is a real jerk to put it mildly.what's next?automobiles of war?

this really ticks me off!

i'm from south florida and we all know what neighborhoods to avoid and trust me ,this is not indicative of most of the people living here..i remember seeing a map from one of the airlines with liberty city clearly marked and squared off and the personnel telling tourist not to cross into this territory because some nutball down there had car jacked a tourist and AFTER stealing her car the nutball ran her over with her own car, several times,ON PURPOSE!what does that tell you?

sounds to me like they're trying to ban the wrong thing!
