NUTNFANCY gun reviews

He seems knowledgeable from what I've seen, but i just can't watch his videos. Tried watching the AR vs. AK one, could only make it through ~9 minutes. Way too long winded, boring, and with no editing it's even more boring.

He seems like a nice guy and all but he takes himself a little too seriously for me to watch his videos with any regularity.

He's way too long-winded for me. I'm not that interested in having that much equipment. For people who actually need the equipment he runs around in, I would think they would find him to be entertainment mostly.

He used to be shorter, but is getting more long-winded. I watched part of his S&W 686P review, and it took him 45 minutes to say what he could have said in about 10.

At least he's doing something constructive and putting himself out there to benifit those who haven't had much to do with the outdoors, shooting, knives, etc. That's more than most of you armchair critics on this thread have done. So, why don't you put up your own vids since you feel you can do it so much better and have all the answers?

I agree he is doing something constructive. At the same time, he has placed himself into a category that justifies a higher degree of criticism. Also, this thread is about him, not about me. I'd be flattered if someone started a thread about my Youtube channel (signature line below), regardless of what criticism I received.

Bill, I clearly stated I've posted my suggestions to his videos. I don't want to make videos about knives and gear. This isn't something personally against you, but I hate the "if you have a suggestion, why don't you do it better or just shut up" attitude. It's what causes businesses to fail - people need to be able to make suggestions, and even more importantly people need to be able to accept feedback. If you were Nutnfancy, would you want to know that a lot of people on a well-respected site thought you rambled on too long? I would if I were him. It's a legit complaint.

I respectfully disagree. Unless you have to pay to watch his vids, you really don't have any fundamental reason to complain. And, if you disagree with something he says, you can always watch something else instead. Besides, I have never seen him say or do anything unsafe or unwise. Have you? A person doesn't have to be a combat vet to review a gun or knife. Anyone can do it, and lots of morons do. But, he's not one of those run-of-the-mill reviewers. He's very thorough and for some that is tedious. But, for the rest of us it is interesting and informative. And, his POUs are also interesting and thoughtful as are his philosophies. He's heads above anyone else out there trying to do the same thing on You Tube.

con - making usefull suggestions is one thing but destructive criticism is entirely something else. I get it that some people think he rambles too much. I personally don't think so. His gift of gab is one of the things that sets him apart and makes his vids more interesting. At least he's intelligent and organized. He just has a lot to say and I appreciate that. I didn't mean to offend you or others here, but sometimes his critics are too strident for me.

but I think his reviews put to shame the video reviews done by guns&ammo, IMO.

you have to understand that the reviews they do are usually for people who buy advertising space. So the review is guaranteed to be slanted a little in one way. As to the OP I have watched him a few times and he is okay, but agreed to the fact that he last a little too long and gets sidetracked. I don't know about his military career or lack of, but he does know his guns. And speaking of gun reviewers anyone watch this guy?

he seems to be alright. He has done a few gun reviews and they are decently done.

I wrote a long posts on how I believed NutNFancy was a poser but I hit the back button and lost it all, now I don't feel like typing it again but the main point is there is no way in hell he is Active Duty Military and Law Enforcement at the same time as stated on YouTube.
Currently in the US Military, 19 yrs and counting. Also ongoing part-time law enforcement service. Currently, I keep these associations and the specifics vague for MANY valid reasons. But they are real and not made up. Any discerning viewer should detect the validity of my background.
THE NUTNFANCY

The subject matter includes guns and effective knives presented by a grown man. That's rather serious subject matter to which the general public is exposed. These videos are not produced by some little kid who's reviewing his innocuous squirt guns.

The subject matter is presented to the public for public viewing and review. If you don't want criticism, then keep the videos private for a private viewing. Only then, people without authorized access would not have a fundamental reason to complain or criticize.

I appreciate his videos. I've tried making videos and it is hard. I don't have enough experience or practice to be as articulate as he is in his videos. As for his philosophy on things it's subjective. Some people think he's right on, some think he's too tacticool. That's the beauty of different forums or video sites, you have something for everyone.

When you're passionate about something and you want to get your opinions out, it's hard to express them within a set time frame. I think of it as when you're talking to a buddy about the same interests, time flies.

Does anybody else find his interaction with the gunshop girl a little creepy?

Honestly, if I was her father, I'd tell him to lay off.

YES 100% lol. I thought I was the only one who thought that. creeeepy.

I gotta admit, if I knew him in real life I think I would really like him. We cant critisize, I mean I dont take the time to do all that so what business do I have telling him to do better. Its good for the cause and hey gun vids on the net is awesome.

but more and more I find myself NOT watching them, due to two videos being the length of some short films. I probably would if I was in the market for whatever he is reviewing tho.

could post a link, I can't seem to find it.

It's in several videos where he visits Impactguns.

There is a lovely young lady that works there, but she seems like she'd even be too young for me and I'm 22.

Well, Nutnfancy spends an inordinate amount of time filming the girl and asking her tons of questions...

Nothing tangible, but it just gave me the creeps.

Reasons I know he was in the Airforce barring what most of you have posted. For several years I lived near Fairchild Airforce Base. Which as some of you may know as the Airforce Survival School. He mentions in several videos his trot around that area. I have met many of the instructors, students and civilians dubbed Tatertots. The only guys I have seen rely on knives as much as this guy would be the the survival cadre. His emphasis on certain letters in the alphabet would lead me to believe he went to a college back east or right on the border of the midwest and east. Indicating he is most likely an officer. He trys to hide his identity, but shows POGish behavior and someone who has more than likely never been actually engaged in combat. Once again indicating AF. His Fire making skills shows he has practiced countless hours and he is damned good. His relationship with Impact...Guns is also another flag. Officers can talk the owners into giving them equipment to field test so he can give the company exposure. He has a term WROL; coined by him and receives credit from TexGrebner of utube. He uses bullets to talk through each weapon he fields pointing to the Death By Power Point the Officers slave over for briefing. He tends to wax on about what he likes as side points and looses his train of thought further pointing to someone who is not used to being interrupted.

SO you guys do what you will thats what I have come up with in the last few weeks.
Holy smokes... someone needs a hobby. :D

I have a hobby. I was blown up in Iraq and I do alot of reading, while on the mend. One of my hobbies is just what I did with that post. Trying not to tear the guy a new one, but finding out the tone inflection and since I am in the military I see differently. Keep your mind sharp.

BigBill don't get hurt feelings. Your getting worked up and frustrated over a small thing. I am fairly sure this is not the goal of the conversation. At least its not my intention. I am glad he is making the videos.

Nut has some good reviews and puts out great info on knives. He needs to spend a little more time editing like Hickock45.

I think he does a great job, he even states he is no professional reviewer or an expert. He is a gun lover and tends to get carried away talking about guns as I'm sure most of us do too. He reviews ALOT of guns, gear, and parts, and they are HANDS ON reviews, not the little write ups with stock factory pics that alot do or do not really own or have. He states its a hobby to post these vids, they are free and it seems he is having fun. He puts himself out there and wants to share his opinions.
Does he sometimes get long winded? Yes, but for me when I purchase I gun I like aesthetic points and little details or "looks" (hipoint is uglier than a beretta storm) and he provides a more personal look at items rather than just repeat the same specs from the manufacturer that every other reviewer does. Besides it's YouTube, if you don't like to watch him, don't. I know alot say it's public viewing so it's open to critique, but he is confident and well spoken with genuine excitement in his speech instead of the lazy drone of other reviews and without the funding of large company reviews like guns and ammo. You know YouTube allows for video responses if you have that big of a gripe against him, of course doing so is harder than just bashing him.

Generally nutnfancy gives good info in his reviews. He does let some of his personal bias creep in, but he is a human being and therefore it is understandable.

I agree on his stance on 2nd Amendment rights.

He does come off as a big over the top with wearing full camo at the range to test fire a new pistol.

Also the overuse of the word "tactical" gets a bit over bearing. The sentence does not get cooler the more time you use the word tactical.

I wish he would do more rifle reviews (besides ARs, AKs, and similar).

All around he seems to be a nice guy that wants us all to continue to have 2nd Amentment rights.

I like how some people here bash other producers on Youtube. However, because they personally happen to like NUTNFANCY, others are not allowed to criticize him specifically.

By the way, the fact that NUTNFANCY leaves comments open means that he is accepting criticism. So, NUTNFANCY himself disagrees with anybody here who says that criticism is inappropriate.

Fair enough... heal up quick.

I watched his piece on the Beretta M9. It was very informative and you can tell that he is strongly biased towards the SIG he was comparing it to. I give him 5/5 on the reviews I have watched.

I noticed that he has a mall ninja following, I read some comments left on one of the M9 reviews where someone claimed that NUTNFANCY was a Lt. Col. In the Marine Corps, and was actively involved with anti terrorist activity in the southwest desert. I know that NUTNFANCY has his comment settings restricted to the point that he approves them one by one, I thought it odd that he would let someone post blatant falsehoods about himself. Internet, serious business.
