This is an excellent question by the OP. To many folks adapt to the gun vs finding the gun that fits them, or can be setup for them.
One of the most potent reasons, IMNSHO, that the 1911 has been so popular for a century is that it can be reasonably adapted to many hand sizes and variants. Long, medium, short trigger. Thin, narrow, regular, and extra thick grips. Straight, "V", or arched Mainspring housing, etc.......
It is so effective that 80 to 90 years later most of the newly designed guns offer the ability to adapt to the shooter as a feature. Really radical.
Most guns with replaceable grips can be found or made to be for larger hands to.
As many others have already stated about the Beretta 92/Taurus family of similar design have stood the test of time. (In the Beretta line avoid the Vertec variant, although no longer made, it is the "small" grip model 92, I have three, and a Steel 1 which is a straight back like the Vertec, no rail, all stainless steel, and Single action only (SAO).
I only have one CZ, the 75B SAO too. I think it could be easily enlarged too.
Also in 9mm one should consider the 1911 again. The 9mm in an all steel frame is a sweet heart to shoot. I have three Colts set up for competition and one of them my daughter shoots. The other 20 1911's I have are all in 45acp.
If you should include the 45acp in your search, seveal other guns do come to mind, but I will not stray, this time.
Good luck.
