BEST 9mm

saw no listing of what i consider one of the finest and least expensive 9mm is the rami 9, great for cc or sd not a target pistol no, but one u can rely on and now can get the 14 rd mag with collar on it. Just got my second, (sold 1st, never do that again!) mine is very accurate at what i consider sd range and for hp all for around $400.00- $425.00

The best 9mm will be the one that fits your hand the best, points naturally and you can shoot with the best. There's really no single answer to that question.

As for recommendations. Take a close look at the CZ-75B. It's a very reliable, durable and accurate pistol and has one of the best out-of-the-box triggers you're likely to find. I used to be a big Sig fan until I experienced the CZ. It's also affordable, though for it's quality, it would still be a good value at twice the price. Easily as good as Sig, H&K, etc.

Make sure you try the CZ-75B!

As others have mentioned, the CZ-75 and later B variant have some of the best ergos out there. No other gun feels as natural in my hand. And after shooting thousands of rounds through it and having only a single malfunction (FTE) I would trust it with my life. I CCW a PM9 or Delta Elite because they're thinner. But I would never sell my CZ. 17 Gold Dots would really ruin someone's day.

I shot the Sig P226 today......and I loved it!! But believe me I will be tryin to get my hands on the other guns mentioned. The P226 seemed a little big in my hand, but not too uncomfortable. I was told it was bigger because it is double stacked, but nevertheless I loved the way it shot! Honestly if the other guns that ya all mentioned shoot this nice, I will not be able to choose just one...!

I'm glad you had a great experience with the P226, I thought you'd like it. And of course since I also mentioned that the P226 might be a little thick...

Post by: Black Majik

If for some reason you find the grips to be a little thick since it is a double stacked gun, try the P225 , which is a single stack (slimmer) 9mm.

Try a P225 singlestack :D

too many to choose from

too many to choose from; I'll give it a shot...:neener:

My 2 favorites are Beretta 92 & Ruger P89; I prefer the DA/SA system:

1) restrike capability if a primer does not ignite before having to run clearance drills for a dud cartridge

2) hammer down without safety engaged for the first shot (like a revolver)

3) heavier first trigger pull means less chance of accidental or unintentional discharge

Beretta 92 and Ruger P89:

1) good overall ergonomics & grip angle

2) easy to work controls, even weak handed (left hand)

3) very reliable & durable

4) accuracy good for combat/defensive work

Addendum: as other posts stated: CZS, Sigs, Glocks, Browning Hi-Powers are all good guns; they just don't tickle my fancy...I'm suprised to see that I am the only one who has listed Ruger so far...oh well

will name the ones that I think are the best 9mm handguns:

Browning HI-Power (All marks)Very popular handgun in Pre-Dunblane Britain-from what I am told by many ex standard-pistol shooters, both in the armed-forces and in the civillian world.I know because I have used this on Naval-ranges, in training and in formal competitions.

Also that moron who got us our anti-handgun legislation , used two of these in the Dunblane Massacre.:cuss: :cuss: :fire:

Glock 17 9mm:Used extensively before Dunblane-here in the UK and is almost standard-issue for all police and law-enforcement agencies in the UK.Iv'e used this as well, on the range.

Sig Saur P225/226::Both extremely well made pistols and both very reliable.Used by the SAS,MI5 and possibly the NCS(National Crime Squad) and Special branch.

David Markowitz:
That picture of your Browning looks really neat-but unfortunately for us,we in the UK are restricted to long-barrelled revolvers and semi-auto(If any exist) that are at least "10 long. That picture is cool though.By the way,is that Browning a MARK3 PRACTICAL MODEL?

All the major handgun manufacturers make good 9mm autos, so choose the one that fits your hand the best. My favorite is the Browning HiPower, but also highly recommend the Ruger P95 and S&W 5906.

If you like the 226 there is a Sport Stock model that gives you an all stainless gun hand made in Germany. It costs a bit more than normal 226.

Why not the hk, not sure, why not the Pm7, gets hot, why not the Taurus, it is a Taurus, Why not the Beretta, the open slide and is clunky, Why not the CZ line, the tang bites my hand.

Besides a 1911 should be a 45 but the STI LD9 is an honorable mention.

Someone asked what is a "optimum" barrel length for a 9, probably a 4" That is what the cartridge was designed on with the Luger.

oh all this talk of brownings is making me want to go to the range right now.... I have a question for my fellow 75 D PCR owners, does the Kadet conversion fit on the PCR? I wasnt sure because its a compact but am interested in picking it up. OH AND ON THE SIDE THOSE THAT THINK THE BHP IS OUT OF DATE SHOULD REALLY ASK THE SAS AND MANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL OPERATORS WHO STILL CARRY THIS TIME TESTED BEAUTY!!! sorry I just get defensive when people bash such a wonderful tool.

David, My Kadet Kit works great on my PCR, but I bought it used and don't know whether that fit is stock or if the kit has been tweaked. The spec on the Kadet is that it will work with the PCR though...

for my money, there is nothing better than my ruger p89 with the hogue grip. very accurate and 3000 rounds without 1 jam.

"How much does the Ruger that is in the picture above cost new?"

Kentucky Imports, www.kyimports.com, lists them new at $329 blued, $339 stainless. I believe the pictured P-89 is a two tone special edition done for the distributor Davidsons. Their website, www.galleryofguns.com will let you search it and get a suggested retail price.

If I could only own one 9mm semi it would be a Beretta 92. If you are looking for something to CCW a lot I would check out the S&W 6906 or Glock G19.

in No Particular Order...

Personal Favorite Keepers:

BHP
G19
Kahr T9
PT-111 MilPro
Beretta Cougar
S&W 908s

An update for Doc2005

I know you wanted me to update ya'all with what type of 9mm I decided to get. I appreciate all of your replies and I went out and shot just about every one of the ones mentioned in the replies to my original post. But I actually am the proud owner of 2 .45's! One is a Sig 220 and the other is a Kimber Ultra Carry II in Stainless Steel (which can have a tendancy to jam:banghead: ). I just thought I would let everyone know. Thanks again for all of the help! It was much appreciated!
