Too big/thick for pocket carry, no safety...has to be carried in a belt holster...and if it has to be in a belt holster may as well carry g19 which is essentially the same weight and size(barely any less concealable ) and a better shooter due to better grip and (slightly) longer sight radius.
Its a dead reliable and easy to maintain gun..I just find I barely ever carry it. Seems like its kinda stuck in an akward place..too big for a deep conceal gun, no real advantage over g19 for carry, too small for range/target shooting..

I know a number of people who use them as their EDC. Small framed men, women, and mainly people who are very physically active during the course of a day, where anything larger always seems to be in the way no matter how it is carried. (I have noticed that the most active people, tend to carry even small firearms OWB.) When Sig has the 224 out in a 9mm DA/SA SRT I will join that tweener club with a similarly sized pistol.

I happen to think its the best carry gun made, which is its point. I could say the G19 is the most pointless because the G26 is a better carry and if going big there is the G17. I find the G26 to be the smallest gun I would want to fight with and the biggest gun I would want to carry.

If you are going for a full size Glock then go with a G34. The G19 is one of the best carry guns ever made, better than the G26.

I looked at the 224 today at Cabellas and having both side by side its the first time I've considered a G26 slender.

Yup. I don't know that it has to do with me being active, but I hate IWB holsters, and I've tried some very good ones in the past. My only two carry methods currently are pancake holsters and pocket holsters. That's it for me.

There is always an ankle holster option for those who spend lots of time sitting in meetings.

I prefer all my fingers on a magwell ESP. in a gun that size. though thruthfully all glocks are too big for what they are

Smaller concealable belt gun then the G19 and with the pearce grip adaptor is fits the hand better.

Why would you want a manual safety on a carry gun?
Glocks have firing pin blocks, and a goofy trigger safety, so they do have safeties. I agree on the thick part, but I carry single stacks, so any double stack is thick to me....

I've always wondered about the 1911 commander myself. I carry a G33 (same size as the G26)myself and with the Pierce grip extensions it's the perfect carry size gun for me.

What's wrong with having a manual safety on a carry gun if you practice with it?

I actually like carrying my Commander 1911 with its manual safety.... Guess I'm dumb.

i don't think he wants a manual safety, just noting that a Glock requires the trigger guard to be covered by a holster.

For me, the Glock 26 is THE perfect concealed carry gun. End of story.

It is:
*Large enough to easily shoot quickly and accurately
*Small enough to effectively conceal under nothing but a T-shirt (comfortably even!)
*Sufficient cartridge for self defense (9mm Luger)
*Decent capacity (10+1 minimum)
*Reliable
*Durable
*Not too expensive
*Many magazine/baseplate options
*No manual safety, simple aim and shoot interface

I have had a Glock 26 since 2005. I have had a Glock 19 since 2009. Of those 8 years, my every day carry was the G26 for 6 of them, and the G19 was my EDC for 2 of them.

So, trust me, I know very very well from personal first hand experience exactly how they carry.

I bought a second G26 a couple of months ago, and continue to make the G26 my EDC.

G26 is great for dedicated ccw and the 19 is great at all around gun. Personally, having options is never a bad thing. I wish the m&p came in as many sizes as the Glock.

It's a good gun for IWB carry. It's still easier to carry and conceal than the G19 and I find with grip extensions it shoots very nearly as well. The G19 is my carry choice because for me it fills the role of EDC and HD gun in it's ideal mid size.

What's the point of any Glock when you can get a S&W M&P?

So that you can get a gun that does't have sloppy slide to frame fit, sloppy barrel to slide fit, a whacky trigger and abysmal accuracy. Oh and Glocks detail strip much more easily. ;)

Go easy on yourself....:D

If you like things on your gun, that prevent it from doing its job, that's cool.
Mag disconnects, drop safeties, grip safeties, all can malfunction. The fewer, the better, for SD.(Strictly my opinion)
What opened my eyes on the little 1911s, was drawing with a less then perfect grip. Say sweat, blood, panic, all added in, your less then perfect grip will not let the gun fire...It happened to me.

I looked at the 19 and 26. Found I shot the 26 just as well as the 19. The 26 conceals better, weighs a bit less, and will accept glock 9mm mags from 10-33 rounds. All in a carry piece that is every bit as robust as the full size model.

I look at the 17 as a great duty gun, the 19 as great compact duty gun, and the 26 a very practical edc for someone looking for a small yet capable edc.

I owb mine or carry in a belly band. I forget it's there most of the time. I feel very well protected.

My G17, G19, G20 or G21 make dandy primary handguns. I'd look rather odd trying to conceal that G20 on my ankle. Of course, I could pull out those 1972 "elephant" bell bottom jeans. Hades-on-high, you could conceal lots of things there. :D Just so I don't have to go all hippy again, I'll stick to a G26 on my ankle. It's plenty accurate for close-in defense, as a back-up handgun.
