With all the possibilities from super micro which might be what you gear up for court to Rambo the tactical special forces mall cop. What level makes you feel like you have enough tools to neutralize the threat?

I'm at the 9MM with a short barrel, but, IMHO it's kind of personal. For convenience, I carry a 357 snubby with a couple rounds of ratshot,on the property, for pest control. Don't bother changing guns when I go into town.

Lately, I'm finding very little solid competition for the old Makarov. Compact, metal, light, solid DA trigger pull,
great safety. Just don't mix up your ammo. Put a Mak round in your 9X19mm pistol, and you're going to have a world-class jam on your hands.

I carry my P32 or LCP at work depending on the pants I am wearing. I work in a secure enviroment behind 2 sets of locked doors... not that my employer cares a hoot about my safety... but they are required to guard patient data with my life. Weekends I usually like to carry my DB9 for a bit more firepower. When I go into the big city I usually carry my .45 XDs. More important to me than caliber is that I always have a gun on me.

I have it set up as follows fighting pen and taser flashlight for work in government bldgs. I call that my super micro rig. My micro is pen, pocket knife, taser, and NAA. My standard is the same but swap LC9s for NAA. I don’t have a Rambo rig.

I manage to get by with just a five or six shot .357 snubnose, IWB under a Hawaiian shirt. In the cooler months, when I can wear a light vest, I'll do something heavier like a 1911. So far, so good.

I have 5 carry guns with concealment holsters. I could carry any of them that I choose.

I go with the lcp on a daily basis, because it is so easily carried. Slim, light, reliable, and accurate. I think it is a good tool.
If I want to be more heavily armed, I go with the double stack 9mm, or a .45acp 1911.
Full Rambo (as you say) would be 1911commander + lcp.

I usually carry 2 revolvers when not at work, an LCR in 38 and a full size 357 with 2 speed strips.

At work it's a 9mm 1911 with 51 rounds, open carry of course.

Usually my G43 + one reload. IWB at 4 o'clock on the belt. Or a G23 same way. If I go "off pavement", I wear one of my 44 Vaqueros. Often as not, that's in addition to the IWB Glock I'm carrying.

Off the job, I go with a subcompact 9mm pistol, usually backed by a micro-.380 or .32 pistol. Each rides on a hip (the BUG on the weak side) in an IWB holster worn between the belt and pants. The second gun gives me a weak-hand option, and is as easy to carry as a spare magazine would be for the primary. This is it for items carried as weapons. A folding knife is pocket-clipped as a tool first, and a potential weapon second.

I really should consider carrying OC spray as well.

On the job (in EMS), only the folder and a small, 100 lumen pocket "tactical" light are carried. I drive to and from that job in uniform, and pocket-carry the .32 caliber pistol with 11 rounds in it while doing so.

My primary concealed carry EDC is a Smith Model 38 Bodyguard Airweight in a pants pocket.

My Rambo rig is to add A Model 60 to my off hand pocket. Maybe I carry a spare of ammo in a speed strip.

Any more than that and I’m running out of carry guns. Other than the 7 1/2” Redhawk I guess I could put the Glock 19 in my waistband. :what:

I carry one of three ways.

1. Full-sized service pistol carried OWB strong side. The magazine in the gun provides 15 rounds plus a loaded chamber. The gun is equipped with night sights. Mode of dress limits when I can carry this way. I only use this approach when I can wear a longer than normal untucked shirt or long coat, and even then, I really only use this option for short trips which won't involve a lot of bending, reaching or sitting.

2. Subcompact carry pistol carried IWB strong side. A single magazine in the gun provides 8 rounds plus a loaded chamber. This gun is equipped with night sights. I carry a spare magazine in a pocket. Mode of dress limits when I can carry this way, but this option provides much more flexibility than option 1 as my cover garment doesn't need to be nearly as long. In practice, as long as I can wear an untucked shirt or jacket, I can conceal easily and comfortably with this option and gun accessibility is not an issue.

3. Subcompact carry pistol carried in a belly band. A single magazine in the gun provides 6 rounds plus a loaded chamber. This gun is not equipped with night sights. I carry a spare magazine in a pocket. I can carry this way regardless of how I'm dressed but comfort is compromised, and accessing the gun is much slower.

Regardless of what option above, I choose, I will also have a cellphone, a compact but powerful flashlight (500+ lumens) with a tailcap switch and a decent sized one-hand folding knife.

I don't alter my carry mode based on perceived risk. I always carry when legal, and my carry mode is chosen based on how I have to dress for the outing, or perhaps on other circumstances of the outing relating direclty to maintaining concealment. I don't have to conceal by law, but I choose to do so for a number of practical reasons and also based on personal experience.

Given my druthers I prefer a compact 9mm carried owb with a spare magazine. However if dressing around the gun is an issue (as it is most days at work), a small .380 pocket pistol suits me just fine.

I dont using "up my kit", but if i know I am overnighting in an urban environment or a more high risk area I may pack a full size fun like my p320.

When traveling I try to scale down. I have a vacation coming up anf I don't want to pack a brace of guns. I've settled on an FN509 midsize with 3 different holster options: a comfortable minimalist OWB for the drive. It smashes flat to my belt so i need never take it off if I am not carrying the gun for some reason. Im bringing a high and tight full size owb for the hiking we plan on doing for faster drawing if needed. Finally im bringing a belly band to wear under my over shirt whole walking around in tourist areas. The gun, a spare mag, and a multitool strapped to my midsection and out of view of others.

For me, its less about the gun and more about how I plan on needing to carry it for comfort/concealment.

That said, there will be a 12g in the trunk just in case things go really wrong.

I never leave home without a handkerchief, my phone, my wallet or my keys.

Unless I'm actually going to the courthouse or the secure area of an airport I always have a Multitool, a CRKT Ignitor and a Fenix RC05 flashlight.

As far as arms go I have three levels available but I haven't had a need for level three (Glock 43 in a pocket holster and one reload) in five years

I work as a Night Watchman for a trucking company. There are certain things the company requires that I wouldn't carry otherwise such as OC and a CPR barrier device, I also carry their phone. On my own I carry a Buck 110, a Gerber Multitool, a Fenix UC35 (1000 lumens) flash light on my belt and a Fenix RC05 (450 lumens in my pocket). I also carry a Glock 26 with a 12 round OEM magazine and a Glock 19 magazine as a reload in my pocket). The Glock 26 is also what I carry at home with a second 12 round magazine as a reload.

When I leave home on my own time I carry a Glock 19 and 2 reloads.

What did the article say

It mentions 4 levels of carry options and was written in Handgun magazine. The other article was about the Virginia Beach government bldg where an ex-employee shot unarmed co-workers. I believe that article was in the Sun newspaper.

I just do this every day. I don't have a smaller option I shoot well and don't go places I need deep concealment. Places where an untucked t-shirt doesn't work I can tuck my holster and tend to wear a sport coat on "nice" occasions. If I had to be more discreet I guess I'd have to buy another LCP or something to pocket carry, but that's not in the cards right now.

In the winter I might carry a bigger gun, but that's more of a "because I can" than precieved need.

My current rotation is a 9mm 2.0 Compact, 9mm Shield and 380 LCP. The first two I carry AIWB, while the LCP goes in a Nemesis in my pocket. I typically carry an extra mag in my off pocket for the Shield and LCP, but don't bother with the 2.0C. I mostly use the 2.0C as a truck gun or carry it when we're out camping, but I do carry it around town some. I definitely lean more on the Shield and LCP for concealed carry, though.

I live in a safe area and feel very fine just carrying the LCP if that's what's easiest and most comfortable. One thing I like about pocket carry is I really don't have to give any thought to keeping the gun covered up - it's just an unobtrusive little lump in my pocket.

During the week I mostly carry either a j-frame or LCP that's easy to slip in and out of my pocket if I stop at a store on the way home from work (can't carry at work). The LCP is often in my pocket when doing yardwork as well.

On the weekends when I leave the house I AIWB carry a Kahr MK9.
