Pessimistic people always look at the bleak side of life. When things are bad, they look for the worst. When things are really bad, they see the end of the world as we know it. When they hit rock bottom, they give up.I doubt very much that we will see decent .22lr ammo at $.04/rd again.
In fact I am stocked for life. A good thing since now that the US treasury is cranking out trillions rampant inflation that is worse than the '70s is darkening the horizon.
Plenty of cows and hogs on the farm. In fact some of them are being euthanized. The reason the meat racks at the stores are bare is a supply chain issue. My point is that our "system" is not nearly as robust as we might hope.
Welcome to the new abnormal.
When things are bad, I look at how things can get better. When things get really bad, I do my best to help things get better. If I were to hit rock bottom, they can’t get worse, they can only get better.
Maybe we won’t see $.04 a round for 22 ammo for some time, but I just did a quick check and you can get 22 ammo right now for $.048 a round.

But then the pessimistic people will say, “ OMG! That’s almost a penny more a round.” But then for some, an extra $4 for 500 rounds is the end of the world.
