Sounds like, dare I say, the perfect Grizzly & big cat setup.
Not in my book but you do you..

Since I made that statement, I have revised my interpretation of perfect, I now believe the .340 Weatherby Magnum is the perfect Grizzly & big cat cartridge.
(can't mention a cartridge without pictures )

Long action, although with my two Savage LW stainless actions, I was very tempted to put it in the short action since the mag box is a full 3.00"Are you building it on a short or long action?
Really it's more like a .270 WSM Creedmoor.
So it's a 270WSM with the creedmoor treatment?
I've looked it over with both and I think I'm going to stick with the long action. But I reserve the right to change my mind. I'm getting the "MAP" reamer for a long throat, so the 160+ class bullets seated way out will have a chance. Plus, I'm shooting mostly copper these days, and those are loooong bullets! That's what I called it back in November.
Great minds huh?
With regards to your 284Win though, I'd think you could fit some 160-170gr class VLD's in a 3" mag box. I'd be tempted to stick with the short action if those will actually fit. I get going to a long action if they won't though.
