Looks like some interesting rifles are getting dropped by CZ today...

We already have 527's. Why make more of a rifle that sits on the LGS's Fudd shelf collecting dust?

New rifle has no head spacing, and lockable bolt and magazine. Standard ring mounts or 700 drilled.

It looks like a huge step forward. Cant wait for a range version to hit my store. I've got a good scope waiting for a home.

I wonder if CZ plans to expand the 600 lineup because CZ-USA’s site shows only 4 variations and only a small handful of calibers, the most powerful of which is .300 Win Mag. The 5XX series had an assortment of variations variations ranging from .17/.22 hornet up to Safari/dangerous game chamberings. And none of the 600 series guns have a traditional American blued/wood profile similar to Rem700/Win70. The closest is the Lux variant.

And before anyone says, “just go buy another make if you don’t like what CZ offers in the 600,” that’s not the point. The point is that it seems like CZ gutted its centerfire lineup. I suspect most consumers expect updates and changes to offerings, but not an update, but also the disappearance of a substantial number of chamberings and staple offerings such as the CZ’s “American” profile centerfire rifles.

I do like the looks of the 600 Trail and think one in 7.62x39 would be great for short-range deer hunting.

CZ600 Recall

CZ 600 rifles were designed to allow the users to replace the barrels themselves to change the caliber. CZ-USA has learned that if the barrel is improperly installed, it is possible that the rifle could still be fired, but potentially result in a catastrophic failure. CZ-USA will correct this issue by permanently installing the barrels in CZ 600 rifles. As a result, the barrels on CZ 600 rifles will no longer be interchangeable. CZ-USA understands that this solution may not be acceptable to some of our customers, in which case we will issue a full refund upon presentation of a valid receipt for the purchase of your rifle.

some how I saw this coming, apart from the possible safety risk I think they realized it maybe hard to supply replacement barrels. Dropping the 527 is looking Dumber by the day.

Wow, these thumbhole S20 style stocks, and vertical grip tactical stocks (on hunting rifles) are now a thing I guess.

Well that's terribly unfortunate. I assume if there was any way to safe the current design and keep the barrel change feature they would have done that.

As it is, the cure will probably kill the patient.

I looked over a Lux the LGS here has on the rack.I don't think it's such a bad rifle other than the location of the rear sight. The trigger is a very nice 3 pounds and the rifle feels good in the hands.I'm not a blued steel and walnut kind of guy,but I'm teetering on the brink of taking it home with me.I've been staying out of the store to keep it from happening, but if I happen to have a good week at work this week,I may pick it up.Probably no getting rid of it if things don't go good, because nobody else seems to like them.

Thanks for the info WVRJ. If money wasn't an issue, would you have brought it home? I can't see bringing something home with a barrel that could never be removed. Not that I have ever shot out a barrel.

Here's a video showing how the gun goes together.

The barrel is just clamped into the receiver. I wonder what would happen if someone forgot to tighten the clamps and fired the gun? Would that result in the "catastrophic failure." Or just a huge heard of lawyers and lawsuits here in the US? Whatever the cause, I'm sorry to see it happen to CZ.

For several years I've admired CZ more than any other small arms manufacturer. I like the company and I like their product, and I have a bunch of their handguns and rifles to show for it. The 600 doesn't appeal to me very much and neither does the 457. There's pretty much nothing I don't like about the old BRNOs, the 452, 453, 527, and 550, so the switch to the 457 and the 600 just relieved some of the threat to my credit card. But there are still the older models out there calling my name from time to time....
