I've picked up a couple of rifles recently, including a beautiful 03A3, that I'd love to take out. Many other guns in my safe also desperately need a workout. I could go to Oakdale GC, which is the only place I've found to shoot at, but it would be more fun to get together with some THR members for a range day. I'm open to traveling up to two hours from the twin cities. Any interest? I'd be willing to bring the 03A3, a Garand, an Arsenal AK, SA58 Para Congo, PTR-91 and maybe a couple of other toys, along with plenty of ammo.

if it's indoors I'd prefer bill's gunshop in blaine. 50 yds and no caliber restrictions.

Bill's allows you to bring your ammo, we always do b/c it's cheaper. they do have some restrictions some different types of ammo but it's pretty lenient. you could check all the fee's and rules or whatever else you're looking for at their website www.billsgs.com i'm actually on that forum too. their is a bills in circle pines and another one in robbinsdale. oakdale gun club is also a nice range. i like the fact that they have long distance ranges. Metro Gun Club in Fridley is a nice gun club for skeet and trap shooting but the handgun range isn't the best quality. i think it's only 50 feet, less than 20 yards. only a few lanes. Bill's is the nicest indoor range i've ever been too.

I'm not really a fan of shooting indoors. Of course, I lived in Arizona and Tennessee for the last 10 years and there was never any reason to shoot indoors.

What we really need is a "back 40" for shooting. In Arizona, you could shoot anywhere as long as you were outside the city limits. So finding a place to shoot was as simple as driving a few miles out of town and finding a track into the desert to follow for a mile or so. I miss those days....

Yeah, I have a 100 range at my cabin and it's really nice to be able to shoot with no range fees and no one else around. but unfortunately my cabin is about 3 1/2 hours north the of the Cities so i cant really go up there unless i plan on staying the weekend or so to make it worth my time.

so lets here a date and a a range! If you leave it up to me we'll go to bill's.

Doesnt help for your range day just a FYI
A member of WOWS who is also RO1 can use the range at any time when ever a match isnt going on. Stages always have steel hanging (lead bullets only). Can also shoot upto 150yds you provide the targets. Appx one hour east of Oakdale Gun Club. 2 does and a buck shooting 777 thanks.:)

The weather is not looking good, so I'll live with indoors. I don't know much about Bill's. I'm open to suggestions for date and time. Weekday evenings (other than Monday) work best for me. Anyone know what the hours are like at Bill's? Do we need memberships or reservations? And most important, I think someone said there are no caliber restrictions. That means I can shoot my AK and my M1 carbine, right?

You don't have to be a member at bill's, prices are pretty reasonable, and yes you can shoot your AK and M-1. I've shot an AK there before. hours are 9AM to 9PM everyday except sunday where their hours are 10AM-5PM. I've never been to the Robbinsdale one but the Bill's in Circle Pines is pretty nice, been there a bunch of times. Gun Shop is pretty decent too.

my problem is i'm only 20 and so i'm still working on getting a pistol. i have a high powered rifle and a 12 ga shotgun, not exactly ideal for a 50 yard range. I go to bill's frequently but i have a bunch of older friends with Permits to carry and a whole bunch of pistols to share.

Alright, how about next Wednesday, December 20, at around 6 pm? I know where Bill's in Robbinsdale is, as I took my CCW class there. Does that work for everybody?

If so, I'll bring a couple of carbines and pistols to share. Besides the M1 carbine and AK (Arsenal SA M-7S), I'll bring a half dozen or so handguns. And yes, I share, so you have no excuse not to come just 'cause you don't have a handgun of your own.

If you're interested, reply here or PM me, and I'll let Bill's know we're coming (and how many of us there will be).

Sweet! Can a noob come too? I like burnsville the most, but bills (robinsdale) and metro is the closest to me.

Oh, and isn't oakdale closed to non-members until next summer?

I only wish I could drive an hour or so out of town and be able to shoot on public land, but fat chance of that happening unless you know someone with a chunk of land.:cuss:

Come up to Circle pines. It is quieter.

I shoot up there about once a week. Nice people decent prices.

FOR those of you in the cities, on sat night at stub and herbs down by the U there is a evening planned for the TCCC (AKA twin City carry community) just a get together and a time to spend some face time making connections. bring a sherpa if you are going to drink heaviliy, one or two beers is ok spread out, but be responsible.

I might be able to make the range day. I will be at the MN get together this week though.

Date: December 16th
Time: 6 PM or 1800
Location: Stub and Herbs
227 Oak ST. Minneapolis, MN 55414
Parking: Stub and Herb's has free parking for our customers behind the bar.
There are also a large number of ramps and surface lots around the University area.

From 9pm-11pm they have a $1 menu
And it sounded like $2 "Bacardi drinks"

More info on the meeting and "The New Thing" can be found here if anyone is interested. http://www.twincitiescarry.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=32&sid=f32b07c12eea9a5bea5ad680ab8c2285

I attached a copy of the flyer. It simply states what I posted above along with an introduction to "The New Thing."

The New Thing is to get people active in Minnesota gun politics.

I shot at Forest Lake gun club earlier this fall. Ranges to 400 yds and an excellent facility i.m.o.
They are on line somewhere.....that is where I found them , although I had heard about the place before.
Multi stations with different distances for each , although you shoot down a concrete tube and this created a bit of a mess with muzzle blast and flying dust etc.
Bills is cool for hand guns and small bores ( Robbinsdale ) , I didn't know that there were other Bill's in the metro.
It seems to me that they frowned on anything hotter than a .30-30 , but it has been a while since I was there.
Metro is what it is , and I'm not much of a trap and skeet guy so I haven't used the nicest part of the operation there.
I will have to try and get out to Bill's on the 20th and do some shootin.
Should help relieve some of the holiday stress.

Yeah the bill's in Circle Pine's used to be called Armored Fire and was under different management. maybe almost a year ago the manager or owner got fired for reasons i probably shouldnt say and bill's bought it up. it's much nicer now that it's under bill's management

The old owner of Armored Fire got busted! It was in the news! No big secret. AF is now Bills in Circle Pines and the original Bills in Robbinsdale.

Gotta like the changes that have been made at the Circle Pines location.

Thanks guys for the positive remarks.
I work there so it has been a long process to get people back into shoot.
