Other than a CCW during the day, assume you either don't CCW in the house or it's night and you aren't CCW (asleep, relaxing, etc.).

I'm curious to see the range of weapons THR members pick to defend ourselves, families and homes.

Since I don't have a home defense rifle or shotgun, I use either my 40 caliber sig 229 or my HK USP45F.

I keep my Beretta Storm 9mm, with tactical light and red laser right beside my headboard, and my Beretta 92 under my pillow

UJ

I've got a 4" Model 29 as my primary gun, although I have numerous others. I use the Blazer .44 Special 200gr. Gold Dots.

I have an AR Carbine and an Ithaca 37 DSPS for backup, but I don't count on them. Where I live, a long gun is pretty useless due to the design of my home. I couldn't effectively employ anything bigger than a handgun so I don't waste time trying.

Bump in the night : Glock 26 with a 15 rd mag when home loaded with Ranger T

Back-up or barricaded in a room : Winchester 1300 Speed pump loaded first three Federal low recoil 00 buck , last four are 12 shot hi-powered 00 buck and five slugs in the side carrier.

Taurus 92 and a Sub 2000 carbine in 9mm. 2x 15 for the Taurus and 30 + 10 for the Sub 2000. I plan on changing the pistol to a Glock 17 to have interchangeability with magazines.

Of course, the first thing I'm going to use to defend my family is my brain. That process starts long before the bump in the night.

I have a .45 1911, sometimes two, loaded and ready to go right near me when I'm sleeping, an M1A with a mag in it, and a Winchester 1300 loaded as well. However, loaded as in magazines/tube full. I don't keep them chambered unless I'm carrying my .45 concealed in public. I keep my bedroom door locked and I have dogs to wake me up, so I have a fair amount of time to chamber a round in the pistols/rifle/shotgun.

So far only I and one other member voted semi-auto handgun and AK/SKS. :)

My Colt’s 1911 in .45ACP and the AK or SKS would be primary but the Ruger GP 100 .357 Mag will often go into HD rotation. ;)

keep a Beretta 96 and a XD-45 very close and the 870 express super magnum w/ 3.5" 00BS even closer. Dont see it happening but if it was a prolonged defense the AR can come to the rescue. But I hope it never comes down to all that as the wall b/w my bedroom and hallway is load bearing.
